The Apartment at Clare House, Aldeburgh

Location was perfect! Apartment clean and had everything we needed to make it an enjoyable stay.

Parking was a little tricky but managed to find parking not too far away.

The location is excellent. The space was perfect for us.

The general cleanliness was not up to scratch. The oven door had smears on the inside. Most of the crockery and cutlery needed to be washed before use because it was still slightly grimy or dirty. When walking barefoot in the property (we didn’t wear shoes as requested), my feet would end up quite dirty from the floor, which was a bit disappointing. The hob is not the best (we wanted to cook a lot), and if you were to replace it, I’d recommend the Ikea Matmässig induction hob. Just a thought.

Great location, only a few steps away from the sea and pretty much in the centre of the seafront.

Although the place was clean there were a few things that were questionable. The little snack that was left for us (cheese twists) was four months out of date. They went straight into the bin. The bandages in the first aid kit were several years out of date and there wasn’t a single plaster or antiseptic in it, just a bunch of expired bandages. The mattress in the main bedroom is terrible and needs replacing, it’s clearly too old and it’s time for a new one. Although the place was spotless inside there was very little care given to the seating area as it was caked in bird poo. We scrubbed it ourselves but were unable to clean it which meant that area was unusable for us which was a massive shame as the courtyard was the main selling point.

Excellent location and generally good facilities

The water temperature of the shower was difficult to adjust and keep at the chosen temperature. Nowhere to put shaving gear or toothbrush and toothpaste or creams etc in the bathroom and too small a basin . Owner obviously hadn’t tried wet shaving in one.
