The Hotel Villa Balbi is an outstanding hotel with the best staff in Europe. Mario, Alessandro, Vincenzo at the front desk as well as the rest of the staff treat you like family and are a large part of the fantastic experience. Highly recommend!

Beautiful hotel in beautiful grounds. Bedroom was large and comfortable. Breakfast was delicious and served in the garden which was a real treat. The pool area is very well situated in the garden with plenty of recliners and gazebos. The hotel is situated across from the sea front and the hotel has its own private beach for which you have to pay extra (50 euros a day for 2 recliners and an umbrella, a bit steep in my opinion). The Main Street of Sestri L is just behind the hotel and has a great choice of bars and restaurants. I would highly recommend this hotel and am sure we will be back in the future

Really enjoyed our stay. The hotel was in a great central location and only minutes to the Bay of Silence and all the local restaurants. The room was comfortable, quite basic but had all we needed really. The shower was good and we had nice towels. We are used to staying in more modern hotels but this was more than adequate and made a nice change. The building is very beautiful. The breakfast was fairly simple but nice. We used the pool and that was lovely. The reception staff were helpful and friendly. The overall price was good compared to other hotels in the area. We would return if we visited Sestri again.

This is a magnificent and historic property located centrally right off the shoreline. The entrance and entire first floor are truly stunning for their beauty and elegance. The hotel grounds include a secluded and beautiful pool, well tended garden and restaurant with a perfect setting for outdoor dining, which includes the breakfast. And now about the staff: they deserve nothing but our highest compliments for the professional, courteous yet friendly service they provide. The front desk, especially Manny, provide the highest level of service and made our experience wonderful. The waiters at the restaurant are also to be praised. The restaurant serves local specialties with fresh ingredients and with flair. We were delighted with every aspect of our stay which occurred during our anniversary.

My wife and I stayed at this beautiful hotel in 2001 and loved it then. This time we brought our college aged kids with us, and it was so great to share the experience with them. Simply a gorgeous property inside and out. Beautiful, old-world feel inside and an inviting pool area outside (although too cold to enjoy when we were there). Perfect central location within walking distance of the main beach, the Bay of Silence, and numerous restaurants and bars. And easy train access to the Cinque Terre. The staff was friendly and helpful. Excellent complimentary breakfast with lots to choose from. We highly recommend the Villa Balbi!
