This is a beautiful property filled with antiques and artwork. The staff was helpful and friendly. The grounds are magnificent and the spa is luxurious. The food and drinks were delicious. We even got an upgrade to a fancy suite! Why, I don't know. The place to stay in Lugano.

While the location and the service/staff are amazing, they gave us a room on first floor over the restaurant where the piano/mouse was annoying and the pets friendliness was also loud due to a dog constantly barking.

Review of Grand Hotel Villa Castagnola – A Complete Disaster. If I could give this place a negative rating, I absolutely would. From the very first day, the experience was nothing short of shocking for a so-called 5-star hotel. On arrival, we went for breakfast and waited over an hour for a simple omelette that never arrived. During that time, not even a glass of water was offered. We had a tight schedule and eventually had to walk out. After complaining at reception, the waiter actually chased me down in the lobby, screaming at me in front of other guests, as if I had walked out on the bill. Utterly humiliating and completely unacceptable. The following day, after a long day of sightseeing, I returned to the hotel bar to share a very special moment with my wife. I had planned a surprise—telling her I would be renewing our vows and celebrating her 40th birthday with family in Cartagena, Colombia. She was overwhelmed with excitement, but in the middle of this intimate, emotional moment, the bartender told us to “keep our voices down” because the piano player was performing. The bar was empty. Imagine being told to quiet down while celebrating such an occasion. Truly disgraceful. Finally, to top it all off, on the last day I received my dry cleaning back and discovered that two very expensive pairs of pants had been ruined. They had been washed instead of dry cleaned. No apology. No accountability. No contact from management. DO NOT STAY HERE. Save yourself the disappointment!!

Thought staff service, property, and cleanliness were excellent. Small things to improve: We had a wonderful room, however, the shower was a tub shower and it was a deep tub so stepping in and out was precarious- could have used a grab bar at the back of the shower. We also had a nice patio but the table on it was very small - would be good to get a slightly larger table. Breakfast was good but the scrambled eggs did not taste like eggs- I think because there may have been a lot of cream in them. You could order an omelette/frittata for a good bit extra. Also, they never had any berries for fruit, but you could order them separately for 18 francs!! We only had a hamburger for dinner there but the reviews on the restaurant were not good. Most people said great service, food was overpriced and not that good.

Undoubtably the best hotel I have ever stayed at. So beautiful, the staff were amazing so kind and helpful. It was my birthday and they sent chocolates to my room and gifted our group free cocktails before dinner. I was very touched. Would Highly recommend a visit there if staying in Lugano.

we had a wonderful stay here. The location is perfect, and we had a wonderful room with the most incredible view, no complaints at all. My only complaint was the food at the breakfast buffet, it was really nothing special, locked, originality, and somewhere homemade options.

Excellent hotel, old classic style, very comfortable and spacious room, good quality beds and beddings. We stayed in the double room with balcony, room looks like a junior suite, had 2 bathrooms. Hotel has a wonderful garden, perfect location , on the lake and not very far from center.

This hotel was absolutely the most gorgeous hotel I have ever stayed. The suites are grand and pay a homage to its time period. The views are unbelievable and the staff is so polite and accommodating. I do wish they would have changed up the menu each morning for breakfast and each night for dinner. Great spot to travel North and South to Lake Como. A wonderful time was had on our girls trip!

Very beautiful and cozy hotel! Our room had a great view to the garden and Lugano lake. Spacious room, which was very clean and pleasant, it had a nice balcony. There was an excellent pianist playing in the lounge whole evening on Saturday night. Hotel is situated by only 20 minutes walk from the city center and there was a free bus connection frequently going to city center. We recommend the hotel and would like to visited soon again.
