Being met at the station by Luca in the shuttle was a lovely start to our stay. He and all staff are very helpful and friendly.

The reason this review gets a single star and not zero stars is because of how great the people are. Experience-wise it has been two weeks and we are still dealing with the repercussions of our stay. During our time at the adult indoor spa, there were multiple kids that were being very poorly supervised. We didn't mind as we were flexible and assumed it would not implicate the upkeep of the property as there were many staff on deck. The disappointment began when we realized the hot tub was not at all hot and after spending about 20 minuted in the bubbling water we were appalled to discover that there were multiple pieces of poop on the floor of the hot tub. Disgusted does not even begin to cover it. TMI but - This actually led to us both acquiring an infection we're are still dealing with two weeks later. The situation was not at all remedied by the property and was only met with a subpar apology and nothing further. I feel as though such a disgusting, terrible experience merited a little more of a follow up and my wife could not have been more disturbed and upset by such a nasty experience. It really did ruin our stay and trip to Lugano and for these reasons we would definitely opt for an alternative property in the future.

The receptionist Maria was fantastic at checking us in! She showed us around, was very pleasant and enthusiastic and we really appreciated her care when checking us in. The valet parking was ideal for us. Sadly one of our bags was left when reloading by the valet gentlemen but the hotel kindly sent this to us the following day so we have to mark them 10/10 for their service and for how they dealt with the scenario

It's a beautiful hotel overlooking Lake Lugano, just 10 mins walk from Lugano. The staff was friendly and courteous. Our suite had a number of issues - the TV didn't work, the bathroom door didn't close, the A/C didn't cool the room adequately, and the curtains did not close.

Beautiful old world property with extensive breakfast buffet. There is a bar and restaurant on site. There are many dining options within walking distance. It is located along the lakefront road. It’s about a 10 minute walk to the center of town.

Staff were all kind and helpful (shoutout to Leila). Hotel is clean and it’s really gorgeous. Great for those looking for a luxury, boutique feeling hotel. The view to the lake was out of this world. Breakfast was good, and we tried their pizza and it was phenomenal.

Stunning hotel on the lake, convenient walk to everything. The staff was friendly and helpful and the restaurants delicious. The only downside was that the air conditioning did not work in our room even after staff assured us, it was fixed. It was over 26 and was cooler outside. No accommodation was given.

We loved our stay at the Hotel Spendide Royal! It’s absolutely gorgeous hotel and the feeling of being there is very special. The staff were all top notch and showed care and a commitment to making you feel comfortable and happy. The breakfast buffet was delicious with lots of variety and options. I have to admit being completely confused as to how this hotel has such raving reviews. It is indeed a very beautiful property, possibly with the best view in town, with a lot of history and prestige, but in quite bad shape, rooms very outdated, everything with a moldy smell, very disappointing. Staff was lovely, really tried to accommodate our shock when we were showed to our room, especially as the pictures can be a bit misleading. Breakfast was quite bad too, as in low quality of ingredients and not very diverse. As i said, staff was lovely and extremely helpful, the view is stunning. The pool area also seemed very nice but didn’t get the chance to enjoy it. But in my opinion, not a very premium experience, beside the fact that you are sleeping in a historical building. We are regulars of another 5 star hotel in Lugano which is, in fact, way better.

The food in the restaurant is great. They also have a one star michelin restaurant. The location is very nice close to the lake with the street in between. Rooms are old, tapestry partly with stains and uneven, shower in the bathtub with shower head at ~1,7m (difficult for larger people) and water is leaking. Elevators are old, the left one takes the guest up and down many times but not to the ground floor. Service overall slow, e.g., coffee took more than 15min at the breakfast.
