    We recently travelled from Australia to San Francisco. Last trip we stayed close to Union Square and this time we wanted to be by the wharf. We loved the hotel, it was clean and tidy and had everything we needed. We loved the morning tea and coffee but missed having those facilities in our room particularly after a long trip. Staff were friendly and accommodating!

    The hotel is starting to look tired and run down. Although the bed is comfortable. Air-con is either too hot or too cold and very loud. The staff service level is very inconsistent. We have Flora and Esmeralda who are both efficient, friendly, and very pleasant to communicate with, but we had a young male receptionist who was less polite. The worst were the porters, one porter literally threw my daughter’s luggages and basically made her feel that he really didn’t feel like transporting her luggages and after, just starred at my daughter waiting for a tip, my teenage daughter felt very uncomfortable and had only a 20 dollar bill and gave it to him. It’s disgraceful. And also during check out, none of them came to help, they just watched us by the entrance door, looking at us moving our 6 luggages and packing into the car. Location of the hotel is convenient to the pier. Our bookings came with $50 vouchers per room, not only the restaurant did not input the vouchers each morning, they made mistakes allocating the orders to each room. During check out, had to resolve it with the receptionist as the rooms were charged wrongly for the breakfast, and it took almost 30 minutes to resolve. Overall, it’s disappointing to see Kimpton IHG having establishments with very inconsistent service levels and quality of hotels. Kimpton is great in Tokyo and Bangkok but this one in SF feels really substandard, IHG needs to audit these establishments for quality standards
