It is surrounded by farm land containing many mature trees and the 'bocage' or 'banks' surrounding the fields for which this area is famous. It is ideal for a couple wanting to get away from it all and unwind. It is just 10 minutes from the popular market town of Gavray with its supermarket, shops, banks and restaurants. The cathedral town of Coutances and the copperware tourist town of Villedieu les Poeles can be reached in 20 mins. Perfectly situated for days out at the Mont St Michel, St Malo, Bayeux and D-Day Beaches etc.

Lovely, well equipped property in a peaceful location set back from the road up a lengthy drive. Roger & Mary were the perfect hosts who were friendly & helpful yet inobtrusive. The property is very well located and acted as an excellent base to explore the surrounding area and slightly further, but more than reachable D Day beaches. The gite more than met our needs with both comfort and expectation & our hosts had created a tasteful and really well equipped home with a comfortable bed and excellent range of facilities for those wishing to cater for themselves. This included a picturesque outside seating area and private garden. We would highly recommend a stay at Roger and Mary's property and would not hesitate to book again when visiting the area in the future. Thank you both.

We stayed here for a week in September. Roger and Mary are considerate hosts. Communication was very good before and at arrival. The gite is well equipped and a good size. It is in a quiet location in the midst of lovely countryside that is home to picturesque towns and villages. Within striking distance of the coast directly west and north. We enjoyed our stay.

A spot from where to discover this part of the earth.Trips to the world of gothic abbeys and cathedrals, beaches with great historic importance, beaches to walk along and collect what the waves carried along, water to lie in and watch the sky and the clouds moving on, moving on. A great base for both coasts and lovely little French towns with genuinely welcoming locals. Lots of leisurely days out in the local area - but not for party animals! Lovely upstairs apartment, comfortable and very well equipped, with good parking and outside seating in a separate area of garden. Close to Hambye which is a pleasant village, with one of the best boulangerie / patisseries we've ever come across. Lots of local interest. We recommend the Abbaye de Hambye close by and Coutances and the Mont St Michel not too long drives.

If you are wanting a holiday in a wonderful location in a beautiful gite then go no further. Rog and Mary are truly excellent hosts with information and advice before you even set off and while you are there. They are around if you require again for advice and have great knowledge of the area. They made our stay even better with being awesome hosts. We will never forget them and hope to return soon. This is a spotlessly clean well equipped gite which lacks for nothing ! There is a private garden area for guests with furniture & barbecue. Roger & Mary , the owners are kind & helpful but none intrusive. It’s calm & quiet in the countryside but local shops are only a few minutes away. We have stayed in many gites & this is one of the best.

A delightful experience

We have just returned from a very lovely week at the appropriately named The Cure. It was just the nicest week in all respects. Mary and Roger are great hosts and keep the place in excellent order. The peace and quiet is amazing. The beaches in the area are quite breath taking. There is more than enough to do within a short drive. The accommodation is amazing. The patio area is great for evening barbecues or just sitting enjoying the sunshine in the comfy loungers. Thank you Mary & Roger (and Nellie the dog) for a brilliant week at your very lovely Gite. A return is very likely.

Our stay at La Cure

We have just spent a most enjoyable week at La Cure. It is in a peaceful rural setting and ideally placed for reaching the local towns, villages and beaches using uncrowded and scenic roads. The gite is bright, modern and extremely comfortable. I cooked a full roast dinner in the well equipped kitchen. The owners, Roger and Mary are welcoming and helpful. They have an extensive local knowledge which they are happy to share and Roger knows all the best routes to get around. We have been coming to this area for several years and always find something new to see. We have eaten well in the local restaurants and it is fun to search the huge French supermarkets for food (and drink!) to enjoy at home. As a relaxing holiday, his can't be beaten - we will be back.

Had a great 6 days at Roger and Mary's gite in July 2016. Arriving to a clean, modern gite with a warm welcome (including Nellie the dog). Had a fabulous time exploring the local towns and all the tourist spots like the d-day beaches, bateaux tapestry and St mont michel to name a few. The gite is in a very peaceful location so a great night sleep was had by all including our 5month old daughter ! Would recommend to anyone who wants a great place to stay with all the mod cons but away from it all.

We booked this Gite on the strength of the other reviews here and we were not disappointed. This is a real get away from it all break. On arrival we received a warm welcome from Roger, Mary and Nellie the dog. Roger and Mary clearly take great pride in their lovely Gite, as it was spotlessly clean and everything you would hope for. Be prepared to travel back in time to the beautiful deserted sandy beaches along the West coast of La Manche, we walked for miles. We also managed to tick off a few things on our bucket list with a visit to the D day beaches and some of the museums and a visit to Bayeux to see the tapestry. We also enjoyed Granville with its superb local seafood. Try the local oysters, they are great. If you have time and are prepared for a two and a half hour trip on the ferry it is well worth going to Sark. We returned home with batteries fully recharged from this delightful part of France. So Peaceful.

This was just such a peaceful setting, in amongst the corn fields and with just the birds to 'disturb' you. We spent only 4 days here but really needed longer to visit what was to be seen in the area as well as to relax. Roger and Mary were very accommodating with all our requests and it was so nice to have Nellie (the border collie) welcome us in after each outing. A great place to stay.

Best place to be !!

We have just returned after spending two glorious weeks at La Cure, what an apt name. We were warmly welcomed by Mary, Roger & their lovely friendly dog Nellie. The gite was absolutely spotlessly clean, exceptionally well equipped, & a welcome pack was provided, the bedroom was light & airy & the bed really comfortable. Our hosts were gracious, kind, & went out of their way to be helpful, the surrounding countryside is absolutely beautiful. Our favourite place was the beach & dunes at Brehal, we had our Cocker Spaniel with us & you can walk for miles, Joe Cocker was in doggy heaven, he's exceptionally active & it's the first time we've managed to tire him. Mary & Roger introduced us to the beach, & in our mind it will always be known as Nellies beach. We found local supermarkets very well stocked, & fish & meat counters were excellent. We ate at Le Pin at Jullouville, moules & frites were good. We also ate at a local restaurant at Nicorps with our hosts, & at lunchtime the plat de jour was inexpensive, plentiful, really tasty, & included cider, red wine & water. The only downside of this wonderful holiday was leaving & saying goodbye to these lovely people, & little Nellie, but at least we could say see you very soon.

I can't begin to say enough about Mary, Roger, and "La Cure" in particular. They are the perfect hosts - go out their way to accommodate what you need, yet considerate enough to respect your privacy. I booked in for my first week of a 19 day stay in France, and came back for my last 2 nights, traveling out of the way to get back here!! The Gite is absolutely immaculate, comfortable, and well appointed. You couldn't ask for a better place to unwind with peace and quite. Landing beaches & museums, are about an hour away, with a beautiful drive in between! The opposite Cotentin coast from these, is a brief 20 min drive. The countryside is amazing, and a photographers dream! All being well, a stay at La Cure will be an annual event for me! Thank you for your help, kindness, wit and generosity!! Nellie, their dog, is now my personal 'buddy'!

This was our first experience of gite life in France. Roger and Mary (and Nelie, the dog) were wonderful hosts and most welcoming. The gite was well equipped and a well thought out welcome basket was waiting for us on our arrival. Nothing was too much trouble and Roger even made a fish and chip run for dinner one evening. The gite was modern, spotlessly clean, bright and comfortable. The gite is secluded but ideally situated for visits to local markets, the coast and lower Normandy. We strongly recommend this gite as a place to stay. We would have no hesitation in booking this gite again.

This is one of the best places we have stayed in. Beautiful, peaceful location in which to unwind. The gite is extremely well equipped, spotlessly clean and very comfortable. Roger & Mary are excellent hosts and were an absolute pleasure to meet. The location is a gem - perfect for cycling, visiting the coast (including D-Day beaches) and local markets.
