Riverside Guesthouse

The location was excellent, within walking distance of the market, 7-Eleven, several great restaurants and bars, and the beach. The staff were friendly, and the room we stayed in included a private bathroom.

The bed in our room was extremely uncomfortable — it felt harder than the floor. When I requested a different room, the owner offered to provide a mattress topper, but it was not delivered in time. Additionally, there was no mini fridge in the room, even though the photos suggested one would be included. The air conditioning unit was not working; although a fan was provided, the room had no windows, so it offered little relief. Most concerning, we discovered bed bugs on the bed. When we requested a refund so we could book accommodation elsewhere, our request was refused.

This place is dirty, full of mosquitos and I don’t think is suitable to be used as a hostel. I booked a bed in a dorm. Okay it was super cheap - but the beds were dirty, the lady had to spray the room with mosquito and insect spray and the shower/toilet was disgusting. The fan barely turned and squeaked like in a horro movie! There was no where to sit/relax. I would not recommend this place.

Everything was spotless, and the owner and staff were incredibly kind and helpful throughout my stay.

The location was good - near the market and short walk to the beach. Staff were friendly but the room was not good.

Dirty. Does not look at all like the pictures online. It was cheap but you would still expect a certain level of cleanliness for a hotel. The ‘bathroom’ wasn’t a separate room, it was built into the main room (see picture) which likely didn’t help with what looked like mould on furnishings as there was no extractor fan etc. The whole room needed a good scrub and the sheets etc needed replacing due to rips in them. There was a communal fridge guests could use which looked like it had never been cleaned. We also had a dodgey window above our bed behind a curtain which looked directly into the hotel hallway. The room was so hot, aircon was available but for an additional ~£11 a night which was more expensive than the room itself. Overall very disappointing- if you need somewhere for 1 night it would be bearable but we wouldn’t stay again.

Location of this guesthouse is perfect, on the main road just walking distance from the beach, night market and cabaret show. Short tuk tuk ride to other beaches. The lady at reception was lovely and helpful, I originally booked a dorm room and she bumped me up to a private room for no extra cost as she didn’t have many guests staying that week, I really appreciated this :) The guesthouse runs cooking classes, I didn’t take part but saw a couple and they looked great fun.

Cleanliness is average, bed sheets were stained and the bathroom was mouldy, but you are getting what you pay for given this is extremely cheap accommodation. All rooms are Fan-only.
