The room was clean and had air conditioning which is really important since this is the hottest area in Armenia. Breakfast was plentiful and the ladies serving it were kind.
This is the furthest accomodation in Meghri - about 20 min. walk to the centre, so more suitable for people with their own car or bike. The owners did help me book onward transportation, BUT there is a nasty transport mafia in Meghri. Not only was I forced to pay double the fare locals paid - which they said was okay (!) - but despite arriving early I wasn't even given a proper seat but told somehow ti squeeze into the back. And the driver was a young thug who proceeded to break all known traffic rules. So if you are heading north on public transport I highly recommend you just go down to the main road and hitch a ride with someone that looks trustworthy - there's plenty of through traffic. Alternatively take a van to the border and hop on to one of the frequent iranian buses that operate the Tehran-Yerevan route.

The older lady was very welcoming and made us feel at home. Also she made a perfect breakfast with self made jams and marmalade. The motorcycle could stand in the garden behind a fence.
There are rooms on booking "with shared bathroom". We don't like that so booked the room where this was not in in text (assuming like every other hotel that you get a bathroom). So here that's not the case. Everything is shared. The toilet doesnt lock.. so you have to sit with your feet against the door. So the older lady gave us the impression of a good homestay, very friendly and helping. But later that day we met the owner. When we met her first she ignored us. Later that evening (when it was dark) a couple of French bycliclist came, with 2 young children. The owner told them there was no room. The French asked if they could camp, but the owner said there are not enough toilets. Now I understand that if we are talking about 2 grownups,, but there where little children and it was dark. (The house is on top of a steep road). The owner showed no hospitality, we didn't believe what she was doing. We are traveling for 4 months now and always met the "let's see how we can please the guests" mentality, but not now. Happily the older woman convinced the owner to let them stay in the garden and let them use the older woman's toilet (different house in the garden). Then the owner said it was all a misunderstanding.. Yeah... The next morning we got breakfast and the friendliness of the older woman made it all right again. But it left us a bit bitter.
