The Indus River Camp

Absolutely everything. The location was super peaceful, staff the friendliest I’ve ever experienced, and the most beautiful room with a view I’ve ever stayed in. I’m vegan and gluten-free which is always a challenge while traveling and they accommodated me with the most amazing breakfast, lunch and dinner I’ve ever had. I was blown away and still think about it to this day. I will definitely be back!

Staff is just awesome and really makes your stay. Food is delicious. Location is wonderful and relaxing. Would definitely come back.

Location is so peaceful and private

In the middle of the night, had a fright when some water/liquid drops fell on my face from the ceiling - being eco friendly assumed there may have been a leak or some such.

The Indus River Camp was a home away from home. We visited on recommendation and we were not disappointed. We loved our stay. The hospitality shown by Jigmet, Rigzen and the team was full of warmth. They welcomed us with smiles, flapjacks and made us feel at home. The team remembered our names, details of our plans and showed genuine interest during the stay. The rooms are cosy and comfortable. The bed is was super soft and comfy and the views perfect! The location is at the centre of a valley with a view of the Indus river. It is tucked away, it feels both private and secluded. Perfect for if you are looking to relax. You can get a car into Leh town in about 25 minutes but we found the beauty of IRC to be taking time away from the city. Hemis is around 30/40 minutes drive away. Thiskey monastry is also a short drive away. The team provides recommendations of things to do in the area but offer complimentary walks, use of the telescope and board games for in-house entertainment. We took the sunset walk with Salman. He was enthusiastic and knowledgeable about the area, environment and mountains. It was a pleasure learning from him! Food was fresh, high quality and delicious. We ate lunch and dinner 2/3 times during or stay. The team enquire in advance if you are veg or non veg and prepare your food accordingly. Food is offered as a set menu rather than all la carte. Lunch was usually pasta, salad and a paneer dish for vegetarians. Dinner was mainly Indian food; a selection of curries, rice and rotis. Pizza made in their outdoor pizza oven was on offer one evening. Both meals were followed by dessert (carrot cake was delicious!). Dinner was roughly 1.5k INR per person. Breakfast was fruit alongside a dish of your choice (eggs, toast, pancakes etc) Team kindly packed breakfast for us when traveling early in the morning. Would highly recommend Indus river camp for a boutique and peaceful stay.
