Convenient location and easy to find from the ferry drop off and very near many of the attractions. The building also serves as a plum wine shop so the foyer is very characterful, with interesting bottles, barrels and demijohns galore. We enjoyed sitting in the garden in the evening and watching people walk by. The kitchen staff at breakfast time is a very friendly lady. We felt very welcome.

We didn’t mind it, but some people might not like that the property is on a well-frequented walking route so there are always a lot of people going by. It gets quieter later in the evening when the day trippers have all left the island.

This is an absolutely wonderful hotel. Our stay here was exceptional. The manager came all the pier to meet us. The lady boss treated us to mulberry tea - frm leaves grown on her 76 year old tree. She also treated us to the most marvelous plum wines. You can buy the plum wines from her. The rooms are exceptionally clean, spacious and beautiful. Breakfast was good. They also have a cafe next door ehich serves the best coffees and cake. We absolutely love this place! Will definitely tell all my friends about this lovely hotel.

Nothing to dislike

The Xiamen Gulangyu Heitan Hotel is brilliantly located, easy to get to from the ferry and great for exploring the island. My room was really spacious with a balcony and big bathroom. I could see Sunlight Rock from my room. The hotel has a lovely terrace overlooking the street, a really nice place to sit and have breakfast or enjoy a glass of fruit wine. Our host Ding Man was very friendly and treated us to a pot of newly made mulberry leaf tea. The leaves were from the tree shading the terrace.

I loved everything.
