Mawe Tented Camp

The family tented lodge is large and spacious but our family stayed in other family size tents which were definitely more spacious. The only negative size is the double bad is relatively small when compared to other places we stayed. The staff is incredible, super attentive and caring. The Mawe tent cam team is super nice, they are all helpful and considerate. My family felt welcomed and happy there.

The double bed size. The water pressure is not strong but it is understandable when you think that you are in the middle of wilderness.

By far the best place we stayed on safari. Absolutely loved it. Stunning, really lovely vibes, the staff are all wonderful, soo much wildlife around, food was also lovely and packed lunches the best we had! Tents are wonderful too, not only the most beautiful welcoming camp but the best nights sleep I had too - beds were so comfy! We wished we spent more time here!

No hot water in the morning

Mawe is in the middle of nowhere and we had some great sightings of cheetahs and lions nearby. The camp seemed to be run by 4 or 5 men, they were friendly but functional. They do the job they have been shown to do, but it's slightly soulless. It's not that they do anything wrong, it's just missing something, a certain warmth I guess. The tents are basic, but we knew that they would be. It had been very overcast and the hot water is solar powered so we were worried about having a cold shower so washed at the speed of light! Had a large male elephant visit the camp which came up very close which was wonderful. They charge to do laundry where others don't. They are quite cheap and you get what you're paying for. We would stay there again, but only if the price was right.

No WIFI in the tents, so we had to walk to the main tent every time we wanted to check or send a message etc. The tents are spread out in a long line so if you're at the furthest tent you've got quite a treck. The poor guides don't have an indoor shower or toilet, so have to go outside every time they need to use the facilities, come on guys, look after your guides, they're bringing you the business!
