About this apartment rental
Located between Wangen and Lindau, our guesthouse is the ideal starting point for skiers, hikers, cyclists, and culture lovers. The Allgäu and Vorarlberg Alps, Lake Constance, various adventure parks, and other attractions for the whole family are all just a short distance away.
The Balthasar was named after Balthasar Berlinger, the first owner of the estate mentioned in a document from 1678. In addition to farming, he ran a roadside tavern serving brandy. It wasn’t until 1900 that the Traube Inn—now the Balthasar—was built by Josef Berlinger and his wife Bertha. In 1912, the Berlinger family received a license to provide lodging for guests, as the terminus of the Ravensburg–Roggenzell automobile line was located near their inn. Around 1950, the building was converted into a children’s convalescent home. In 1954, the farm’s former stable burned down. Until 2012, the Traube was used as a school camp. Since fall 2020, the building has been owned by the Mennel, Knill, and Stebel families. After extensive renovations, the Balthasar will finally be ready to welcome guests in 2022.
