About this villa rental

L’Altra Metà can comfortably accommodate 12 people in its 6 beautiful bedrooms, all spacious, bright, with high vaulted ceilings and each with its own shower-room “en suite”.

The building has a double entrance: one leading into the dining room and kitchen and a second leading into the garden.

On the ground floor there are two bedrooms, the kitchen, the living room with TV and sofas, the dining room, while on the first floor there are three other bedrooms (one of which has the possibility of hosting a couple with children in as it is a two-room apartment with two single beds located in the communicating room, another has a romantic balcony with a view towards the countryside and the sunset). A sixth bedroom - housed in an old barn, is located on the stairs that lead from the kitchen to the first floor and terrace.

The pride of this magnificent structure is its garden, impeccably tidy and full of flowers and ornamental plants, as well as being embellished with some beautiful architectural elements, first of all the beautiful colonnade on which a dense vine plant is woven.

The swimming pool (measuring 7 meters x 7 meters, depth 140 cm - hydromassage jet on one side) is almost set in the space delimited by the colonnade and has a paved area with modern umbrellas and sun loungers.

Outside the kitchen of the building there is a dining area in the shade of large parasol umbrellas, while an area of the garden is enriched by a soft lawn.

The garden is the fulcrum of the villa, the place to spend moments of fun and relaxation. Being inside a small village, however, the utmost efforts are required from guests to avoid night noises that may disturb the people who live nearby.

The Other Half also has a large level terrace where you can admire romantic sunsets over the surrounding countryside every day.

The South of Salento is a remote and fascinating place where the land gets narrower and the extreme edges of Puglia divide the two Ionian and Adriatic seas.

The building is located in the historic center of Arigliano, a wonderful and characteristic village, part of the town of Gagliano del Capo. Within walking distance you will find all the main services such as shops and supermarkets.

Furthermore, Gagliano del Capo is very lively, with restaurants, trattorias and pizzerias and various events organized by the municipality to brighten up the summer evenings.

There are numerous coastal towns to visit: Santa Maria di Leuca which is about 5 km away, with its ancient villas from the early twentieth century and the new tourist port; the "Ciolo", about 3 km away, a fascinating inlet where you can swim or have lunch overlooking the sea (reachable on foot from the center of Gagliano through a very fascinating nature trail) and "Pescoluse", about 10 km, with its beautiful sandy beaches, free or equipped with bathing establishments.

When we drove into Gagliano del Capo, we weren't sure what to expect. It's a tiny, authentic Italian town with lots of charm... but didn't give much of a hint was hiding behind the walls of this amazing villa. That changed pretty fast when we opened the gate. Gorgeous gardens, lush arbors with hanging grapes, the amazing pool. We were a group of 12 with family and friends and we had an great stay here, with big dinners at the long tables both outside and in the large dining room. The bedrooms are large and comfortable and classically decorated, the grounds are beautifully cared for, and Alessandro was a helpful, friendly, and wonderful host. So was Francesco, whose family owns the place. Alessandro checked in from time to time to see if we needed anything and was quick to answer questions but otherwise left us to enjoy the space. Extremely nice guy who knows everything about the area (read the welcome manual, even if you have your visits already mapped out... it's clearly written with a lot of insight about and passion for the region). As for the location, the villa is a short drive from just about anywhere you would want to go and the town has everything you need. Plus, the pool makes for a great way to end (and sometimes start) a day of touring. Honestly, we've been staying in home rentals for over a decade, with multiple rentals per year, and this is one of our favorites. If we're ever back in the Puglia, we'll definitely stay here again. Loved it!
