Are you looking for a vacation rental in the heart of an organic fruit farm on the Elbe island of Krautsand, near a sandy beach (400 m) on the Elbe, where you can experience cruise ships up close? The island is connected to the mainland by two bridges. Starting in 1620, the first proper houses were built on Krautsand, constructed on earthen mounds (wurten) to provide protection against the Elbe’s storm surges. It wasn’t until 1976 that Krautsand was enclosed by dikes. Typical features of Krautsand include the houses on mounds, the thatched-roof houses, the orchards, the pastures, the small nature reserves, the harbors, the small seafarers’ church dedicated to the Good
