Are you looking for a vacation rental in the heart of an organic fruit farm on the Elbe island of Krautsand, near a sandy beach (400 m) on the Elbe, where you can experience cruise ships up close? The island is connected to the mainland by two bridges. Starting in 1620, the first proper houses were built on Krautsand; they were constructed on earthen mounds (wurten) to provide protection against the Elbe’s storm surges. It wasn’t until 1976 that Krautsand was enclosed by dikes. Typical features of Krautsand include the houses on mounds, the thatched-roof houses, the orchards, the pastures, the small nature reserves, the harbors, the small seafarers’ church dedicated to the Good
Hirten, and the beautiful sandy beach, which, together with the adjacent mudflats, stretches for about 7 km. Between the dike and the beach, trees and willows offer shelter from the wind, rain, and sun. Here you can relax on the magnificent sandy beach, watch ships large and small in the nearby shipping channel
, and safely explore the mudflats at low tide—all without having to pay a visitor’s tax. You can explore Krautsand on 20 km of bike and hiking trails. The Hanseatic city of Stade is only about 22 km away.

For breakfast outdoors, our guests have access to a large play and barbecue area under a walnut tree. Our guests are welcome to use the provided patio furniture to create a cozy seating area in the orchard.
