Very nice staycation

The home has a private gate going up to the home plenty of room to park, the grounds are immaculately groomed and you cant see a neighbors house. The lake view and sunsets are spectacular. The home is open layout leaving easy in and out to the porch and pool. it was help yourself to the beer and beverage refrigerator and we enjoyed tasking the assortment of beers on hand. The yard has space for croquet and games and there were pool toys available. As we stayed mostly at the house for a week staycation, it worked very well. The house does not have a lot of pictures, the other bedrooms all have queen beds. Although the owner lives in the home, they cleared it well for our use for a week. couple questions and a minor issue were promptly addressed, and response was the best

Positive: Location; Spectacular views; Clean interior; Comfortable beds with quality linens. Negative: 1) Pool-pump was not working and pool water was full of leaves and debris. We had to clean it (surface and bottom) before we could swim. Additionally, the infinity edge overflow channel (concrete area 6 feet deep and 12 feet long) was empty due to pump issue. This was dangerous as a fall into it would likely have caused a serious injury. At the owner’s suggestion, we used a garden hose to fill the concrete pit & then used the hose to run water over the waterfall that should have been operating, but wasn’t; 2) Outdoor cleanliness was a problem with the patio/pool area needing some TLC. There were many spider webs in the patio & pool areas. Four of us walked through them at different times. There was also a large rat that seemed to have taken up residence in a stone area next to the patio grill. We saw it on two separate days & chased it away the second day. The grill is a high-end brand, but needs maintenance. Flames shot past the grate in some places & were non-existent in others making it difficult to cook meat evenly. Bottom line - we’re outdoor people, & the outdoor area advertised for this home was a deciding factor in choosing the home. Unfortunately, little attention seems to have been given to the patio/pool area prior to our arrival, and this was a big let-down for us; 3) A lot of the owners’ personal belongings are in the home & visible to guests. We’re accustomed to owners locking away personal items & depersonalizing the home, so this was a surprise to us. Specifically, the master closet is filled with the owners’ clothes, shoes, purses, etc. with only a few feet of hanging space available for renters. Also, most of the dresser drawers in the master closet were full, and we didn’t feel comfortable going through all of them to find empty ones to use. We just lived out of our suitcases for three days instead of dealing with that. Finally, there are poster-size photos of the Mrs dressed in only panties and bra (or no bra) hanging on the master bedroom wall. This seems too personal to be in a rental, but others may feel differently. Our experience was different than other reviewers. The owner wasn’t available to meet us when we arrived. His son was staying at the house up to our arrival, but didn’t stay to greet us. Nice people; maybe just bad timing for our stay.
