Third time staying the the Kona Makai complex with this being our favorite condo. Had a nice deck with a beautiful view of the ocean. Also, main part of balcony didn’t face the daytime sum letting us use if more during the hot part of the day.

Well equipped and great views of the ocean wonderful wrap around deck. Needs some updated cushions for outside but otherwise a great place. There are alot of rules with the HOA and I would suggest the description be more specific in this area

Some reviews say "tired". I say comatose. Kitchen cabinet doors stuck themselves shut repeatedly. The finish on one was rubbed off apparently from people trying to get it open. Door handles has "scuz" on the back side underneath, apparently decades of buildup. The bathroom door handle lopck stuck shut. Close the door from the outside and you aren't getting in. Did I forget the plugged kitchen sinks? Took me a hour and a half to clean up after the plumber after he had left, some from him, most because it hadn't been cleaned under the sink for ages. Check out the lani. Hasn't been painted for years, maybe ever. The walls are all spotted and faded. Furniture very uncomfortable with the exception of the living area couch. The place looks like it was furnished by Goodwill. The indoor dining table is a lani table complete with umbrella hole. Sits four. We had six.
PLUS SIDE: The view was great. The pool needed replastering but is fully functional and very nice. The lounge chairs were quite comfortable. There is a great viewing area for sunsets and whale watching. Everything I could have expected from the common area. My contact, Paul, was quite accommodating. He got a plumber out ASAP on a Saturday, a small miracle in Hawaii!
This was my first VRBO. Maybe I just expected too much. Don't think I'll do this again.
