Thank you for considering Retreat on Jekyll, #208 at Villas By The Sea. This villa is perfect for couples, small families, and solo adventurers.
Retreat is decorated in an informal ocean and lighthouse decor. The owner is a lifelong visitor to Jekyll and an author who focuses on educating about the natural wonders, history, and adventures that Jekyll offers. The decor reflects her love of nature and the island.
Beautiful live oak trees surround the building in both front and back.
Retreat is conveniently located approximately 150 yards from the beautiful Driftwood Beach and across the road from Horton Pond, a natural habitat that's perfect for bird watching and seeing other wildlife.
Villas features an onsite, solar-heated pool with a children's play area. The gym and children's playground with its signature pirate ship are just outside the back door. It's just a short walk, about 100 yards, to dining at the Driftwood Bistro, the very popular on-site restaurant.
Retreat's entrance is ground floor and handicap parking is very close by. Usually you're able to park right in front of the building. The bedroom has a queen-sized bed along with a full-size hide-a-bed in the couch.
The bathroom includes a large step-in shower with a seat inside to make life easier for those who need to sit while bathing. The full-sized kitchen includes coffee maker, stove top, microwave oven, refrigerator with freezer, electric can opener, and coffee maker. Ice machines are located throughout the property. A large dining room table, two flat screened TVs, and a small reading library are included as well. The library includes books for children.
Retreat's sliding glass back door has light blocking curtains. It opens up to a small covered patio and continues out to the pirate themed playground.

*Is the bike trail close by?
Yes, the bike path is just a few pedals away. Bikes are available for rental on property and at other sites around the island.
Jekyll Island has about 25 miles of paved bike paths plus well maintained sandy trails. Biking these paths allows you to enjoy the historic district, maritime forest, salt marsh, and beautiful ocean views. It's the best way to see the island!
*I have mobility issues. Is Retreat a good fit for me?
Villa 208, Retreat, is located on the first floor with no steps or stairs to climb. Our bathroom has a walk-in shower with a seat inside.
*What exactly is in the villa?
Retreat features a queen sized bed, pull-out sleeper sofa, two flat screen televisions, large dining table, a book collection for children and adults, telephone, alarm clock and fully equipped kitchen with granite countertops. Laundry facilities are about 30 yards away.
Linens are provided with this unit, as well as a starter set of paper towels, toilet paper, dish soap, dishwasher detergent, and some personal amenity items. These items will not be replenished during your stay.
Villas by the Seas has 3 coin-operated laundry rooms accessible with your key cards.

Overall this was a nice property. We had trouble getting into the property as the code didn't work. Also the refridgerator had a shelf that was broken and caused us to have glass shattered on the floor. Location was good.

Didn’t use the condo much, the weather was great so we did a-lot of outdoor activities and really enjoyed the island. We just used the condo to sleep , the bed mattress is in bad shape , but the sofa couch mattress is even worse my 8 year old slept in it and even she complained, i layed in it for 5 minutes and my back was hurting

The property location was great. We stayed for 5 days, so we were cooking some meals everyday. The pans were a little on the cheap side for daily use. The refrigerator rails on the door fell off, luckily I was an appliance repair person for years and put it together correctly. There was a lot of stuff, ( like Knick knacks)everywhere, not leaving much space to put things like books, hats chargers…We had a good time and the location put us right on the bike paths and beach. The bed seemed like it should have a better cover under the sheets. Both my wife and I felt itchy when in bed and after getting out of bed.
