Once we found the place, it was quite central

Dirty dishes on the cupboard. Very old and needed updating. Kitchen terrible Never been to a place like this where the guests are asked to clean the floors and the apartment before leaving. On check in, you are handed a ‘welcome kit’ which is a cleaning kit.

Absolutely dreadful.

This was the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed in. Dirty, smelly room with no proper shower and a toilet you couldn’t sit in without bruising your knees.

Everything. We were on the top floor - normally only used for staff who were noisy and rude.

Friendly staff and central hotel

The staff at the Hotel les Negociants could not be kinder or more helpful. There is great bike storage, and the rooms are clean and comfortable. The breakfast room is small and windowless but the breakfast is good value.

Be sure to clarify if you have a shower or tub - we had a hand held shower only with no curtain or enclosure so it was a bit awkward. There are very few outlets in the room.

The location is great, as it’s close to the center and the train station.

The room was very noisy. Our upstairs neighbors were moving all their furniture for 2 hours during the night, or at least that’s what it sounded like. Shower is in the bath, so it gets quite wet in the bathroom.

Great location!

Very helpful and welcoming staff, secure place on site for our bicycles, comfortable bed and a room with a view. Breakfast was fine- very basic but I was happy they had gluten free bread for me.

Very convenient hotel at a fair price.

Very convenient location just opposite the Train and Bus stations. Polite and helpful reception staff.

The floor boards squeaked quite a bit. There was no shower curtain in the bath tub which made it difficult to take a standing shower. The bathtub was very high and would difficult for people with disabilities to negotiate.

The booking.com price we paid was approximately 20% higher than what we would have paid if we had contacted the hotel directly. The hotel management, realizing that, were kind enough to offer us breakfast at half price.

We enjoyed exploring Valence and thought this hotel was very convenient for that.

Very good central location, near the station and they also have a garage to put your car. My main positive comment is about the staff. The lady on the desk was very welcoming and helpful, that makes all the difference when you in a foreign city for the first time and tired after a long journey. The street is very quiet at night too,

A bit weird having the WC in a separate room from the bathroom. Only a slight niggle.

Thoroughly recommend

Excellent for solo travellers, dog welcome in restaurant and breakfast room, 2 minutes from the railway station and very quiet room even though the room locked onto the road. Less than 10 minutes to the park, so ideal for dog walking. Felt a safe location as a female solo traveller. All hotel staff were friendly and helpful. The restaurant catered for vegetarians and great breakfast choices. I recommend this hotel

The hotel location is exellent: just a few steps to the train station which has a safe and vivid vibe- the city was lovely. The hotel staff members were very friendly, supportive and practical in a casual and nice way. I like the modern simplicity of the hotel where you can feel relaxed. The room size was very good and quiet; the room charge was really good value. We had a comfortable and relaxed stay - we just needed so.

We satisfied much the hotel room for a very good price. The bathroom might be even greater by adding a little touch of taste. I think it was a tiny/ minor mistake but there was only one set of towels for two. We managed though for that night so we did not claim. Sure they would have brought another set if we had requested.

its lined with eateries and the couple of places we tried had delicious food and coffee! it is very accessible to the train station as it is just in front.

parking is not in the hotel. there’s parking outside the building but it isn’t easy to get a spot. nearest parking is at the Gare (train station) opposite the building. it is payable. the room also smells dusty. i felt a little itchy on my body when we arrived into the room.

Adequate but not perfect!

Did not have breakfast. Location excellent. Bed comfortable and good towels.

Soundproofing non-existent so very early risers above us disruptive. Lots of noises from plumbing. Toilet door did not close completely.

Very pleasant stay and very kind and considerate staff.

The room was large and bright and airy and served by both stairs and a lift. All the beds were very clean and comfortable. The bathroom had a bath (though not full length but still nice) and shower attachment. We had a nice view of the street below. The location was very good with lots of cafes and boulangeries close by. The hotel is perfectly situated for the train and bus station which are only a couple of minutes away. The staff were excellent - particularly the very kind man who took trouble to work out what trains were running and helped us organise our travel plans to save us time and money. The plans he suggested worked perfectly.

There was a takeaway pizza restaurant opposite with a good wood oven. The pizzas were actually very nice and reasonably priced but this did generate a fair amount of traffic from the delivery scooters in the late evenings. The noise generated wasn't a big problem for us, and was outweighed by all the good things about the hotel. In summer this might be a bit difficult, but the room we were in had air conditioning, so with this on there would probably be no noise problem.
