We loved our gorgeous beautifully designed room. The bed was extremely comfortable and the shower was well designed with great water pressure. The food was excellent. We really appreciated that the coffee was freshly brewed and served at the table and not self service from a machine. Truly enjoyed the abundance of fresh fruit. And the amazing desserts. The food was never overly salted but instead wonderfully seasoned. The staff at the restaurant were outstanding. Reception staff was very friendly and helpful. We loved the beautiful landscaping and plush cushions on all the loungers. Loved that the beach loungers were free!
Everything and everyone was simply marvelous.

The resort itself isn’t very big, coverable from the reception to the beach in a 3-min walk, with 2 restaurants and 3 bars. It has a slight jungle-ish feeling, with plenty vegetation and a few animal sculptures, but overall a pretty cosy vibe. It was also quiet all around, even with 3 or 4 families with small children. Room (junior suite with private pool) is clean and spatious. Towels are changed 2 times per day (second time is optional). Another unusual detail is that there’s no door between the bedroom and the bathroom’s sink, however both the shower and the toilet have their own separate glass doors. The bad part is that the shower door doesn’t go all the way up to the ceiling so a hot shower instantly got the room hot and steamy. AC is efficient and quickly gets the room cold, but it instantly turns off when you open the main and the pool doors, so you can’t always keep it running. You only have a key card for the room and you tell the staff your room number, so no permanent bracelets for all-inclusive guests. The beach is private, 90% sandy and very well-maintained, with decently comfy sunbeds. The sea has a long walk-in and is also clean. Beach/pool towels can be changed 2 times per day. Food was good in both restaurants. We personally would have wished for more seafood options. The main restaurant was always in buffet-style for all 3 meals with plenty variety, but one section always had traditional greek foods - tzatziki, olives, feta, buyourdi, greek salad etc. The breakfast had both sweet and savory options and the dinner was in a different style every night - greek, american, asian, mexican etc. The beach restaurant had more or less the same types of food, but in much lower quantities, as its buffet only has one small room. The main difference for the beach restaurant is that you need reservation for dinner and you get a fixed pre-determined 5-meal course instead of the open buffet.
TV is modded to the hotel platform/app and linked to your profile, you can also connect the sound of your phone via bluetooth for some music, but it only has youtube and netflix and we unfortunately couldn’t use AirPlay (iPhone screen sharing) to try and watch other streaming platforms. It was extremely windy and wavy, the sea having a red flag in 5 of the 7 days we stayed. The other 2 days we fortunately had a green and a yellow flag and we could stay on floaters, but there still were plenty waves. Even if it was windy, it was possible to stay on the sunbeds without sand swirling around. The main downside was the pool temperature, both the resort’s and the room’s. They were too cold to comfortably swim or to just stay in, and it took too long to get used to their temperature in the 2-3 days we decided to try and swim. The room’s pool was especially cold, maybe because it was next to the apartment building that shadowed it until 2-3 PM, but in general the mid-September outside temperature (20-25°C) and the winds probably didn’t help either. Also, the private pool is quite small and shallow (1.10m) and only reaches just above your hips so you cannot swim in it. The hotel’s big pool is also only 1.25m deep. A huge personal downside was that freddo espresso is NOT included in the all-inclusive package (but, weirdly, frappe is), so we paid an extra €4.50 a few times (everything you consume in the resort gets charged on the room and you pay at the end of the trip). Also, bottled soft drinks weren’t included in the premium all inclusive package. A short observation is that even though it’s a family-friendly resort, besides a “mini-disco” before the night show, we didn’t see many dedicated activities for children, maybe also because we went slightly off-season.

Food was amazing including breakfasts, lunches, dinners and snacks inbetween. We were premium all inclusive, meaning everything was included except a very few special coctails - and all of the food was just really good, and a lot of choice. Location was great, this is not a huge resort, the beach is close to the rooms, as are the restaurants and other facilities. Staff was super nice and very helpful, they really do everything so guests have a great time. They provided excellent customer service, and Katerina is a gem! The room was clean and nice, the private pool attached to our room was also clean and very comfy. Sunbeds on the beach were super cozy and comfortable, and there were more than or just enough most of the time. Property is very well maintained and just looks nice.
There was no hot water in the room, like at all. If you took a shower at the right time when nobody wanted to (early afternoon), you could get warm water, but not hot. If you tried showering in the evening, it was lukewarm at best, but sometimes I was cold in the shower with the hottest setting possible. This is totally unacceptable and inexcusable at this level, and prevents the rating from being a 10. Also drains in the room hat a bit of a smell, which was not a dealbreaker but noticable.

it was newly refurbished and workers were really nice and you can tell everyone tried really hard.
This is not a 5 stars hotel, they charge has a 5 star place and the pictures make you think you’re going to a 5 star place, but this is a 4 star at best. I am not sure who thought that offering only buffet dinners was a great idea, it’s not, really poorly thought. Greece has so much great food, why lowering the level on that? Suffice to say that despite we had half board, we mostly ate outside. plenty of good restaurants in Rethymno. but it wasn’t only food. there was no service on the beach and the floor around the pool was wrongly thought out. be careful, when floor around the pool is wet, you can seriously injured yourself or your kids can. no screens on your windows, which make it impossible to leave windows open and lights on. finally the dumbest rule is about towels. aside that you have to leave a deposit because they are worried that someone who can pay 3000 euro a week for 1 room might steal a 5 euro ugly towel, you can only exchange between 4-6pm. yes, I’d you are on the beach, you. red to leave to change your towel and since dinner starts at 6:30pm (is the time schedule of a miner?) you can’t really enjoy the beach until later.
