Great to get away for a few days exploring central Scotland. Would definitely stay again.

The food was excellent and great value. The staff were so friendly and helpful. Distance from the train stations was so handy for visiting Edinburgh, Glasgow and Stirling.

Beds were a little bit uncomfortable. The hotel is in need of redecoration. Walls and carpets are tired looking in places.

Bland and Boring

The majority of the staff were very kind and accommodating. The hotel is in a lovely and quiet location. The money spent on the bathroom upgrades was well spent. Now do the carpet.

The overall feeling of the hotel is 1980s inertia. You fear the dingy feel and beige layers are leftover from that decade. Like every fresh coat of paint just added to the layer of bygone eras. The tea kettle in my room looked like a relic of olden days with the patina of 30,000 cups of tea, the freshness an old faded memory from the last wash, which had to be, at the very least, a year ago. However, I can say, even if they did it with a slight look of confusion at the request, the kitchen staff were happy to help by getting me a kettle of hot water to take to my room. Whoever orders the biscuits, great taste, best tasting items in the building, though, they do fade in the shadow of the caramel cheesecake. This hotel is the local rotary club, and the kitchen is always hopping. I am not sure what others are ordering that I didn't, because they stayed busy, and I stayed confused. To say the food was lacking is an understatement, but, there was always a lot of it. American size portions. Side note: Book taxis in advance from the train station, or you will rot on the side of the road forever.

The view out the window, and park across the street. Attractive front on the hotel. The size of the shower. Decent size of a room. The bed was comfortable and larger than expected. Nice to have a table to write at and a dressing table. Friendly staff.

The coffee mugs in the room weren't clean. The shower head was dirty around where the water comes out and on the top. There were brown streak/drip marks on the top of the shower walls, maybe because the extractor fan in the bathroom didn't work. The underside of the sink was dirty! Furniture in the room was marked/scratched. Room, whole hotel needs updating. Breakfast staff need to make sure the warming trays of precooked food don't run out of food. Plates need to be clean!

One night stay

We needed a quick 1 night stay in an emergency, and this hotel suited our needs. They provided a fantastic evening meal. The staff was really friendly and helpful. The hotel was in a quiet, safe area, which we needed as we had a loaded car with our personal possessions. There was a possibility we might have needed to stay another night, and we would have been more than happy to have done. The hotel was nice and clean. Really lovely hot, powerful shower.

I'm just being picky. The shower screen didn't seem big enough for the power of the shower as when the water hit the shower tray, it sprayed out onto the bathroom floor and puddled, which could potentially be dangerous

Comfortable but basic hotel with good staff in a convenient and pleasant location.

Now stayed here on four occasions. Edinburgh hotels now so expensive and this always less than half, and including breakfast. Easy to reach, plenty of parking, easy drive to Edinburgh or by train. Staff always friendly. Restaurant does great value food and is always busy with local people having family gatherings, always a good sign.

The breakfast was adequate ,not the best but certainly not the worst,that’s just my choice,the coffee wasn’t great if you like your morning coffee Maybe offer a lower priced room with no breakfast for those not wanting the breakfast …. Nice hotel, but stay was ruined due to other guests/staff not putting them out sooner.

The staff were friendly and the breakfast was good.

We were kept awake all night by other guests partying until 6am. We did inform the hotel which advised the other guests to leave; however, this was too late, as we had been kept awake. We spent a lot of money for two rooms, we did not even get offered a discount.
