Comfortable and warm.
Shabby, dated and must have been allocated the 4 star rating decades ago.

It is a lovely homely place in a nice location
Only thing didn’t like is it was cash only as at a party we could not put a kitty in and it made it very expensive rounds !!

Location and period features in the property
The bed, really uncomfortable. Also no gym facilities, well I asked and was told there wasn’t any.

The room was very large
It is a bit dated. Doesn’t feel clean. Evening was ruined by a wedding party running down the halls and shouting and screaming.

Lovely hotel clean and clean well kept. Great food in the restaurant. Staff always helpful and friendly.
Bit of a damp like smell in room.

Lovely grounds and communal areas plus decent breakfast. Pleasant receptjon staff and at this time of year lots of parking. Clean rooms, comfy beds - but...
First room we were given (201), great size but right beside some kind of heating system/vents that meant a continuous heavy humming sound. The receptionist moved us to the only twin room she said they had left (216). Smaller but the deep humming noise was less noticeable. Sadly the radiators really need to be bled in 216 at present they only heat up at the bottom. The size of radiators for the room, even though small, are inadequate. Even a heated towel rail would have helped. Went to bed early tired from visiting relative in hospital. Discovered the radiator issue at midnight when we woke up frozen. Found a small fan heater in the wardrobe (which makes me think they hotel aware of this issue). Fan heater was ironically noisier than the generator sound we moved away from as it was right there in the room. It took the edge off the cold. As we were tired there seemed no point at asking to be moved again after midnight! I would go back to this hotel as the beds were comfy and having the option of a bath in hotels is rare these days, however I wouldn't stay in 201 or 216 in the colder months for the reasons mentioned. The hotel needs to provide the option of extra pillows and blankets - Scotland gets down to -6 at least in winter and it's not much to ask. I hope they get this sorted out asap.

Lovely staff (wish we knew her name but unfortunately didn’t see the badge she was working the night we checked in fantastic service deserves praise thank you) really friendly in the morning too, nice atmosphere, cosy feel.
A lot of running around in the room upstairs, very loud coming through to our room but this was the only thing.

We’ve been staying here for more than 30 years on and off. It’s been through quite a few changeable times but it’s back to its former glory. We love the setting and the staff are always so cheerful.
My only negative are the knapkins at breakfast. They are ridiculously small. But that’s the only negative thing.

Location was fabulous. Lovely premises and staff were so friendly and helpful. Relaxing atmosphere. Dogs not just accepted but treated as guests too.
My room was ok but a comfortable chair would have been nice. My legs went dead after 10 mins of sitting in the one in my room.

We have been a few times this year & generally we have always enjoyed our stay..
Breakfast again was spot on..
We didn't have any hot water in our room, so couldn't have a shower & had to boil the kettle so I could have a shave..

It's a nice pleasant hotel with lovely thoughtful staff. Rooms are clean and perfect for a night's stay. You can take your dog which is fab and they are allowed to go into the restaurant with you. When we visited there were quite a number of dogs so it is quite a place for dog owners and there is a nice area outside for walkies. Thoroughly recommend! I am disabled and use a walker and access is good and there is a parking spot directly in front of he hotel. I think this was our 4th visit. Breakfast was lovely with plenty of menu choices. Our waiter remembered us from two visits last year. I had forgotten our cotonoodle dog's dinners and she was given a sausage to make do till we got some.
Really the only issue is that it is beginning to look tired with remedial painting work required especially on wood work and doors.
Some tables need re varnished some carpets require to be vacuumed right up to the wall and pictures and fitments including the lovely wall wood cladding dusted correctly. I had a few issues with the food in that you never should serve the end heel part of the pate which has extra outside skin/rhind? ( sorry can't find a better word) on it and same with the actual end of the haggis at breakfast. Steak was nice if a bit fatty. Keep the breakfast bar topped up please! (sweet tooth).

Suggest maybe serve breakfast earlier than 7.30 but wouldn't stop me staying here again

Nice location, pleasant walks by the river nearby.
Good parking.
Large room.
Comfortable bed.
Some parts of the hotel were a bit shabby or dirty. The carpet in the lift was filthy and despite me telling the receptionist it was not vacuumed.
The ensuite was in need of updating. The basin was blocked. Rather old shower curtain over the bath. Cracks in tiling etc.
Stains on seats in bedroom. No cushions. Remote control broken.
Took a while to find bar and restaurant staff.

The property us in great location, very peaceful in the countryside but also close to major road network, short trip into Perth and small villages within walking distance
The decor and furnishings were a bit tired; chair in the bedroom had torn upholstery and needs renewed.
The main stair carpet was in need of hoovering.
The room was quite cramped and did not match the photos provided on the website which made the rooms look deceptively bigger

Beautiful surroundings, lovely setting
It was quite dusty - I took photos of cobwebs and the dusty phone etc and my tv wasn’t working, however the staff instantly came and fixed it, so the staff were on the ball.
£9.50 for a glass of vino ouch

The food was excellent both at dinner and at breakfast. The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. The room was spacious and we had robes and slippers. It was good value for what we pain]d.
It’s a bit run down and tired. The stair carpet needed a good vacuum, it looked like it hadn’t been done for days. The curtain in the dining room was hanging off the rail. It’s a pity because I’m sure it wouldn’t take much to do the things we saw that were below par. It has a lot of potential.
