Super clean , great privacy , absolutely amazing location

I was expecting more child friendly and safe sleeping options like a cot bed or secure bed…granted the addition of kids to the trip was last minute due to unforeseen circumstances, however, there was an additional charge and I was under the impression that they would be catered for. There was a couch with day beds there but there were no side rails and I did not feel comfortable letting my 3 and 6 year old sleep there alone. Just mentioning this so things can be done a bit differently for other guests with young kids.

It is so close to Johannesburg and Pretoria, perfectly situated for a quick couples weekend getaway. The facilities are top class, there is privacy, the owners are friendly and accommodating. The surroundings are beautiful - we even saw waterbuck as we sat drinking our coffee on the porch! The nearby Italian restaurant’s food is incredible, and highly recommended. This is definitely at the top of one of our favorite places to take a break and relax.

Our stay at Monkey Thorn was absolutely wonderful. From the moment we arrived, we felt welcomed and cared for. The peaceful, tranquil atmosphere made it the perfect place to relax and unwind. What truly made our stay so special was the incredible warmth and hospitality shown by the owners. It was the thoughtful little details and personal touches that stood out from the welcome drinks to the delicious little chocolates, Rusks, nougat and biltong waiting for us. Those gestures made us feel genuinely valued and at home. The accommodation and its surroundings are simply beautiful. Everything is so tastefully designed, aesthetically pleasing, and impeccably maintained. Every corner reflects the care and attention that has gone into creating such a special space. The staff and our host were exceptionally friendly, kind, and always willing to help with a smile. I am especially grateful for how warmly they welcomed both my mom and me. Their kindness made our experience even more memorable. Thank you for such an amazing stay. We left with wonderful memories and truly appreciated every moment. We will definitely be returning and would highly recommend Monkey Thorn to anyone looking for a peaceful getaway with outstanding hospitality.
