Blickinstal Holiday Retreat

Loved the location was absolutely gorgeous and the house was clean tidy and very comfortable beautiful setting easy to get anywhere

Just a very minor fact that we could have used a large frypan for breakfast instead of cooking ‘4 breakfast as there was only a very small frypan and a few tall drinking glasses There were a couple of people there that did have issues with the deposit including us getting through to the necessary account which can make it difficult at the last minute

No breakfast. It was out of town.

We were surprised to be asked for a $300 bond and to be required to provide identity documents on-line. These are expectations of a high end hotel in a major city not a rural cottage. The only people on site to help were other guests. The place was freezing when we arrived. It would be good for someone to put on the AC. The fireplace is integral to making the place warm, the AC doesn't warm the whole place. No firewood was provided. No matches in the house. Our neighbour had an axe so we could get some firewood from the property. We purchased some firewood.

Spacious for 2 good hot shower

TV wouldn't work, it said the Antenna was unplugged or service was down.

I have been to this property before years ago, the location and surroundings are beautiful, and the cottage is a great set up. was such a shame to see how far it has fallen since change of ownership.

The gardens/ grounds are not maintained properly, they are simply mowed down around the main areas and other areas left with knee high grass. Broken outdoor furniture left lying around in plane sight as well as old garden tools. Broken retaining walls not been seen to. The cottage was very dusty. The Floors had not been vacuumed in some time, there is no longer a live in manager or any staff for that matter and the phone numbers do not work if you require assistance. The wine vending machine did not work so we couldn’t even try the wine of the vineyard we were staying at. So many missed opportunities. I was very sad to see that such a magical place had been left to deteriorate so badly. I hope this place gets new owners soon.
