Annoying.

Room was spacious.

A few to check in forty minutes early if the room is ready is greedy and the opposite of hospitality. I have travelled for work all over the world for twenty years and I have NEVER had the front desk tell me there’s a fee if I arrive a little early and the room is ready. There is also no space to wait and work comfortably if you get in early from travels and don’t get into your room. Also though someone has out energy into stylishness I found multiple things in the room poorly designed with zero foresight. And the price was a joke. I’d have been more confortable at a holiday inn. Or somewhere where the pretentious attitude matched the actual quality of the hotel. My room looked right out onto the street and a parking lot. I mean like feet from it There was a bathtub on the patio which I can only assume was designed by a voyeur. And the sheer curtain was drilled into the wall was decided on by someone who didn’t look at the space and understand that for privacy you want the side that’s screwed into the wall to be the one that you can move.

We enjoyed celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary but just felt the bed needs an upgraded mattress

I loved the modern elements of the decor. I loved checking in through the app. I loved the fire elements and the soaking tub on the patio. I loved a functional kitchen and a lovely bathroom. Liked the decks. I also loved that there was a little electric car garage. Our car was too big, but that is a nice touch.

I was disapointed with the bed's mattress. Very uncomfortable. It was not typical of a luxious hotel. A comfy hotel bed is a key element in the overall experience. Also, there was some soiled areas (rug in living room and swing chair pad on the deck.

It was comfortable and welcoming.

Perfect location. Everything you would want to do in the area is walking distance. Ability to rent bikes. The bed is very comfortable. Outdoor bathtub. Complimentary reusable water bottles and champagne.

Pretty loud if you are below the restaurant. Outdoor tub privacy screen was broken.

The location is close to casinos and the lake but it’s not in a great neighborhood.

My room was beautiful but my view out my balcony was an apartment building that had kids screaming outside until midnight. They have a tub on the balcony which would be fun to use if there was privacy. They have townhomes which might be quieter than the motel side.

The Desolation Hotel is sublime! It lived up my expectations after a lot of research on the best places to stay in Lake Tahoe and based on all the expert reviews that I had read in advance. Amazing attention to detail across all aspects of the property and the wonderful friendly staff made this a great place to stay. The room aesthetics are fantastic, Maggie’s restaurant is top notch for either a delicious cocktail or a sumptuous meal, and the pool and spa area with the fire pits and the chill vibes were the perfect spot to relax after a day on the slopes. My wife I travelled from Australia to ski in Tahoe. We have travelled all around the world. So glad we chose to stay at Desolation Hotel!

Nothing! Desolation Hotel and their staff are awesome! We arrived late at night due to our flights being delayed, but despite reception being closed, the hotel kept in touch with us and made sure we could access our room without and problems. The service was exceptional.

This is not a five star hotel, it’s not worth the money

Townhouse type. 1st floor garage, 2nd floor living room with small kitchen, half bathroom 3rd floor bedroom So no noise from other rooms

It is not clean, especially after the cleaning. I overheard complaints from next door about lots of hair on the bed asking change the sheets. Shower was Clogged.

Super small. We stay at a lot of 5 star places all I’ve the world and this must be the most overpriced hotel we’ve ever stayed at. $1500 a night and there was no desk or coffee maker. The air conditioner leaked all over the floor. It’s as big as a hotel in Manhattan or Tokyo. The photos are very misleading.

Restful and Enchanting

Everything was exceptional from the first phone call. April and Jack were exceptional getting my family together and making sure we had all of the best Amenities available to us.

I’ve stayed at many Hotels, Villas and usually with Marriott and Ritz Carlton properties but couldn’t find a thing wrong or would change.
