I often see people say a certain manager/staff member was key to their stay being good. I've never really understood that until Maison du Nord. Every person working there is friendly, thoughtful and proactive. The price and location are excellent. It's a five minute drive from Mont Choisy (our favourite beach in Mauritius) or a 20 minute walk. They also offer a shuttle around 10am and 4pm return. It's close to many restaurants in Grande Baie and malls, supermarkets etc. The breakfast was great: buffet + omelette and pancake station. The accommodation is "older" but does everything you need, has a safe, and is cleaned spotlessly every day. We stayed in one place that 2.5 times more expensive but was worse equipped and had an aggressive owner. I would not hesitate to stay at MDN again!
