Region: Impressive mountains, open fells and clear-water lakes, the Lake District has it all. From walking in the mountains to exhilarating watersports or just a gentle cruise on a steam-powered yacht, Cumbria is the perfect holiday destination.
Town: Penrith, historically the capital of Cumbria, is well located between the Lake District, Westmoorland Dales, and North Pennines. Penrith's sandstone buildings hide charming cottages, gardens, and stores in their yards, roads, and alleyways. Penrith has superb pubs, hotels, restaurants, and entertainment, with a museum and Millennium Trails through its ancient districts. Rheged is a nearby visitor centre containing shops, cafés, exhibitions, and a big movie screen showing instructional films.
