Adorably cute! Loved all the animals. We come back again

When you arrive, you will be greeted by many friendly animals! Dawn is really easy to communicate with and timely in responses. The Hoblet was the perfect size for my husband and I on our honeymoon. One thing we wish we knew prior to our stay would be the toilet situation with not flushing toilet paper due to their septic. One thing we love, is that the money we spent on our stay goes directly to supporting the animals with food and comfort.

I came to the Niagara region to visit with a friend that lives in the area. It’s a perfect location away from all the busy city stuff. Getting to The Hoblet was easy and really feels like we were way out in the country, but just a short drive to the activities in the area. The animals are so great and are so fun to interact with. The cabin was comfortable and had everything we needed. It truly is an enchanting place.

What a unique and unforgettable place to stay! From the moment we arrived, we were charmed by the peaceful surroundings and the adorable animals. Feeding and petting the baby goats, alpacas, and even being followed around by the friendly turkeys made our time downtown truly special. The host, Dawn, was absolutely amazing—so kind, responsive, and genuinely welcoming. When we asked to meet the animals, she went above and beyond to give us a personal tour. Her warmth really made the experience that much better. The cottage itself was beautiful—spacious, cozy, and surrounded by greenery. The sauna was a great bonus and very easy to use, adding a touch of relaxation to our weekend. We also loved how close it was to Niagara Falls and Niagara-on-the-Lake, both quick and scenic drives through stunning farmland and vineyards. We even took a bike ride along the farm roads and were blown away by how gorgeous the area is.Highly recommend this property if you're looking for something peaceful, fun, and a little magical!

The Hoblet was very nice. It met our needs for our short stay and visit to Niagara Falls. Very cozy and in the country.

Our stay at the Hoblet was very relaxing and allowed us to get away from the city and busyness of the world. The fireplace, sauna and overall decor made us feel very welcomed and encouraged us to relax and take time away from the internet and our devices in general. Spending time with the animals on site was one of our favourite parts!

Living room was best part of the place although we did see two mice and also mouse droppings in the cupboards and also the outside swings were in bad state due to dirt and mold we could not use one of the swings as it was so dirty the patio roof leaks and the whole roof of the house is covered in in thick weeds that also cover the 3 skylights so no light from them, also no wifi available , the whole place has a dilapidated look about it on the outside it's not as in the photos

Great place to stay with friendly hosts and amazing animals.

The property is enchanting and quiet. Not handicapped accessible, a four inch step up to get into entrance into property and a 6 inch step up for the shower. The bedroom is pleasantly exotic but bed we found difficult to get out of, as we both are physically challenged. The walk back to the Hoblet was inviting and the animals were welcoming. The animals are extremely well provided for and it says a lot about the caregivers. The Hoblet is located in a deep forest and a mouse in the house is to be expected, I guess.
As for the positives, it is quiet and safe and we watched deer passing thru the forest. It is a magical place, a place for meditation and being "one" with nature for the able bodied. Located minutes away from attractions and the falls (beyond incredible). If you are able, this place is the place for peaceful rest.

My wife and I stayed at the “Hoblet” and could not have been happier. Dawn, our host, was very responsive to all queries and made sure that our entire stay was stress free and enjoyable. The property was well maintained and very clean when we arrived. Check-in was hassle free and easy.
We enjoyed interacting with and feeding the animals throughout the week that we were there. Would absolutely recommend this property over any boring hotel stay any day of the week.

We stayed here for a weekend and were blown away by how many lovely rescued animals were there for us to interact with and feed.
The owner was easy to get in touch with and very accomodating.

We arrived on a Friday and stayed until Sunday. Was very cute and quaint, all the animals around made me feel very much at home and I loved talking to them and petting each one of them. The Hoblet where we stayed was clean and comfortable, quiet, and private which was nice. Thank you!

We had planned a long weekend getaway to Niagra and Toronto. The location of Dawns cabin was perfect. The cabin was well equipped, in a serene setting that was actually like a storybook. Animals greeted us in our lighted walkway to our cabin. Baby goats, alpacas, long necked geese, burro, sheep, ponies, ducks. Our stay was perfect. The cabin was comfortable, clean, has fairy lights, romantic CDs, a sauna in side the bathroom (which I used each night) alittle pond leading up to our outside porch. Just delightful!

The Hoblet is a quaint cottage in a peaceful setting as advertised. My host was at a disadvantage due to a medical issue that resulted in the cottage not being prepared as well as she would have liked. With that said, I was very comfortable there and had the experience I was hoping for. I was able to rest and recharge while enjoying a beautiful natural setting and the company of some of the sanctuary residents. The cottage was well appointed with all promised amenities. It's a great place to disconnect and relax!

This is the cutest wee animal sanctuary. Place was clean and comfortable. Communication with owner was immediate and excellent. It is a bit rustic, but for me, i was very happy. Highly recommend and if we come back to the area definitely staying here.
Close to everything. Niagra falls, niagra on the lake, Weiland locks, tulip farm all within 20- 30 min.

We stayed at the Hoblet as a home base for some quiet, relaxing time away - a nice, humble home. The animals were a bonus - especially Norman who greeted us each time as we walked backed to the cabin.

The cottage was cozy and clean. The pond out back was really pretty and the animals were very cute and friendly. The kitchen was good and the whole aesthetic fit perfectly. This was one of the most peaceful vacations my girlfriend and I have had. If you are looking to escape into nature, this is one of the best places to go, short of simply putting up a tent on Mount Washington.

It is a lovely little place to stay with the main selling point being the animals. They are so friendly and we loved being around them! The Hoblet was clean and a little quirky which added to its charm. The host was extremely nice and easy to contact.

We stayed here for a week and had a great time. The Hoblet stayed nice and cool despite high temps and high humidity during our stay there. It was the perfect quiet getaway while we explored the area and visited family.
Dawn was very responsive and helpful, and we loved being able to feed the various goats and alpacas by hand. (Wanda the cat was also a wonderful part of our stay.) Definitely not an experience we'll forget any time soon!

We stayed here while visiting the falls. My girlfriend loves animals so I surprised her by booking this. She was very excited when we arrived to see them all. The little cottage we stayed at was lovely and had a nice outdoor area.

This is the perfect place to stay if you don't mind a bit of bother and are looking for an experience. The cottage has a few "don't" messages for my liking but for the right glamper, it is on point.
The animals were the highlight for us. So friendly and pet-worthy. Each morning and night the goats, ducks, horses, ponies, donkies, alpacas and such would greeted us - asking for a pet. So sweet!

We booked a three night stay that felt like we were away for one week. It was very relaxing to be surrounded by nature and many new outside friends :) The Hoblet offered us an opportunity to disengage from the busyness of life while providing all of the amenities necessary to feel right at home.
We hope to book another visit.

We stayed regularly at the Hoblet pre-COVID, but this was our first trip back since 2018. Under new ownership, this gem of a property has somehow improved and we had more fun than ever, something we didn't think was possible.
More a living farm than ever, the sweet goats, horses, alpacas, and even ducks and turkeys were a delight to interact with, feed, and pet. The house itself is the same -- bright and quiet, very comfortable for some time unplugging and decompressing from the world.
The bed could use some help -- the mattress is not very comfortable and the frame seems to slope pretty strongly, but there is a new pull out sofa which was very nice.
Dawn was a great host, always communicative and took time out to tour the property with us and introduce us to her little world.
We are definitely planning to return again -- our family appreciated and enjoyed this getaway in just-rural-enough Ontario.

Favorite part of our day was hanging out with the goats, donkeys, and pigs! Loved how close we were to the Falls as well as other cool sites like Balls Falls, Niagara on the Lake, etc. Wonderful vacation with great hosts!

We had a terrible day leading up to our stay. Petra was very understanding and made us feel right at home as soon as we arrived. Her and her husband are just wonderful loving people, can't speak highly enough about them. The property is gorgeous and enough out of the way for the perfect peaceful time, yet close enough to Niagara and surrounding areas to go do shopping etc. The hoblet that we stayed in is beautiful and charming. The sauna was an added bonus that I desperately needed. All the animals are the cherry on top. All of them are very sweet and endearing . We got to have many special moments with all of them. Plus they are all rescues and are beyond loved and taken care of. Perfect place of a fresh new start. Thank you again to our gracious hosts. We will definitely return.

This was a surprise getaway for my wife. She has always wanted to stay in a cabin in the woods, but neither of us are truly outdoorsy. We like to be close to more urban areas for restaurants etc. The location was perfect. It was rural but close enough to tourist areas, if need be. My wife crossed off a bucket list item on this trip. Our hosts were warm and welcoming. We were introduced to the sanctuary animals and were trusted to feed the goldfish. We could have also fed the donkeys, pigs and goats with a diet specifically designed for them. The hosts were a text or phone call away, if needed.Because there are animals running through the grounds, it is vitally important to close the gate when you enter or leave the property. To make this as easy as possible, there is a remote for this action.....just like a garage door opener. There are two rentals on the grounds, both offer a rustic experience in very unique and charming ways. One is smaller than the other and positioned in such a way that you do not notice eachother. One of the donkeys is a bit of a media icon. He has starred in Murdock Mysteries and an upcoming movie penned by Dan Brown (Angels & Demons). We would have liked to have known if he was a member of the ACTRA union. This was a wonderful few days experiencing Niagara region in a very different way. There is a convenience store that sells pizza (not on Mondays) and the Niagara Parkway that will take you along a very scenic route. As an important note, the funds from the rental properties go to the animal sanctuary, enabling animal rescues and thier upkeep onced saved from their various fates.

I was welcomed at the gate by owner Petra and we immediately hit it off, with much laughter, as I recounted my navigation (or lack of) skills during my drive from points west. There was a quick tour of the grounds enroute to the Hoblet, with introductions to Mush, the very friendly dogs and the other animals along the way. There were no surprises, everything was as described, except the ambiance...that's hard to put into words. I chose this location for R and R purposes and it met all my expectations. Solitude, when I wanted it; a chat with Petra at feeding time. I will definitely be back.

Amazing, quaint spot for a relaxing getaway. Petra is so welcoming and genuine and obviously loves all her rescued animals. My daughter and I were in our element!

There really are no words that describe our experience. Peaceful, welcoming, calming, joyful. Our main attraction was supposed to be the falls, but our time with the animals at the Hoblet was second to none.It became the main attraction. We felt honoured to have the opportunity to stay here. Slightly off grid/rustic. A beautiful place to unwind after being a tourist.

My husband and I stayed at the Hoblet for three nights. It rained basically the whole time we were there :-) it really made no difference to our trip at all except that the poor donkeys had to go to higher ground so when I went to bring them their apples and carrots they were gone :-) because of the beautiful patio we could sit out while it was raining. The pigs and dogs came to visit us every day. You really don’t realize how much TV you watch until you don’t have TV and the news. It was great!!! We watched a couple movies that we had never seen or heard of and were really good :-) Petra told us about a wood-fired pizza place that was close by - we got one and it was delicious. Had a sauna in the Hoblet - I know I am just listing things…saw a hummingbird up close, brushed and fed pigs, saw a goat climb up into a big tree stump… it was just fun and quirky and different :-) Petra and Mush were amazing hosts and just really nice people. I would highly recommend the Hoblet for some peace and quiet in a really cool secret hideaway :-)
