Mario Lakeside Apartments

It is a very well presented apartment which is spacious and nicely furnished with everything needed. There is a lovely hammock outside and it was a perfect place to sit and enjoy the lake view.

Honestly....it was the cock a doodle doooos every morning which started at about 3.30 that I didnt like but there are a lot of chickens around Tuk Tuk!

Nous avons passé cinq jours délicieux dans cet établissement magnifiquement situé juste en bordure du lac qui dispose d'un excellent restaurant végétarien. Les deux offrent un panorama. magnifique. Chacun des deux appartements est constitué de deux grandes pièces, d'une salle de bain et d'une cuisine, d'une terrasse dotée d'un hamac. La wifi fonctionnait correctement. Du fait de l'altitude, le ventilateur s'est avéré largement suffisant. Il est possible de se baigner directement dans les eaux limpides du lac et d'y observer les poissons rouges (les red devils, espèce invasive). Deux chaises longues sont mises à la disposition des baigneurs. Les hôtes, très sympathiques, donnent de bons conseils et facilitent l'organisation d'excursions et de treks. Je recommande également le massage. Les tarifs sont très raisonnables. Nous avons apprécié que le bateau depuis Parapat s'arrête à l'aller comme au retour directement au ponton du Mario Lakeside appartments.

The most wonderful place. Our stay really exceeded out expectations. Katie, Ali, Mario and the rest of the team were perfect hosts. Nothing was too much bother; they collected our laundry, arranged tours and transport and even met us at another port to give us something we'd left behind! The huts were ideally situated with a beautiful view of the lake from our balcony (and bed!). They are well equipped and cosy plus with their restaurant (called Horas) upstairs (which seems to be the most popular in TukTuk - and given their great quality, tasty and good value menu, it's no surprise!). Overall, we were so pleased we stayed at Mario's, its a really special place.

The view of the lake from the apartment furthest to the right as you face the lake is unobstructed and quite lovely. The manager of the property tried his best to be helpful, though he was often busy taking care of the restaurant.

Based on other reviews, I’d hoped this would be a relaxing last few days of my trip. I’m sorry to say it was not. From the moment I entered the property, I noticed a little highway of ants that traveled in and out of cracks in the walls, particularly in the bathroom. I had read about ants in a previous review and because that guest didn’t seem bothered, I didn’t think much of it. I was therefore surprised to see so many ants. Every morning there was noise from people on jet skis going across the lake. I don’t think this is something one can escape, no matter where one stays, but I think it’s good to know about. On the second day of my stay, a next-door neighbor burned a trash fire lasting for four hours, which filled the not-well-sealed room with smoke, caused me to feel ill, and left lingering a smoke scent on all of my things (I was able to wash it out of my clothes when I returned home but I still notice it on things I couldn’t put through the wash). A few smaller issues are that the bedroom overhead light didn’t work properly, and there are about 60 steps up to the street level from the apartment, as well as 20 steps down to the water, so those with mobility issues might have concerns.
