Pensiune Rara Paltinis

Outstanding location and facilities. Excellent for a family getaway in the mountains. Lots of things to do nearby. Great breakfast and dinner options, multiple restaurants within walking distance. There is a nice playground for kids, and two more in the neighborhood. The living room / play area indoors was fantastic. The host communicated well by Whatsapp.

The heating did not work well the first night we arrived, they had to adjust it remotely. Because we were there in off-season, there was no staff on the property and no room-service for several days. During booking the page did not mention that the triple room is on the third floor, with no elevator. That made it difficult for us with little kids.

I've spent couple of nice days with family and friends at Rara, the rooms were clean, comfortable beds and bathroom well equipped. It had a very nice salon where we had board games evenings and where you can serve your own food if you had.

The period we were there was end of October and was pretty cold outside and in the first night the rooms weren't warm, most likely because the heat system was turned on just before we arrived... Another downside was that our friends had to reduce their stay with one day (unexpected urgency) but we did not found understanding from host for refund.

Staff was very kind. The room was clean. The same thing I can say about the other spaces of the pension (the restaurant, terrace, etc).

The number of parking places is a bit small (6-8 places). Breakfast is a little diversified and you don't have many options to choose. Even the options for dinner are few, the menu being very different than the one published on the own website of the pension. As a personal experience, for objective causes I had to shorten my stay and although the reservation was not non-reimbursable, I was penalized with the value of the last night. This is the company's policy. Although the staff from the Reservations Department tried to help me, I did not find understanding at the management of the company. They returned money for breakfast for the last night. Pay attention to the reservation conditions: it seems to be cheaper to be penalized if you don't show up, than to shorten your stay by 2 nights for instance.
