About this house rental

This superb home on Newquay's sought-after Pentire Peninsula rests in an unrivalled position above the Gannel Estuary, creating a one-off escape that has to be experienced to be fully appreciated. With private access down to the beach and incredible views over the estuary and out towards Crantock Beach, the house which is laid out over three floors, has a series of bifold doors connecting it to the outside creating that essential indoor/outdoor lifestyle of a truly luxurious coastal holiday home.

Inside there are five beautifully appointed bedrooms along with three bathrooms and a fantastic cinema room which has access to the pool terrace while upstairs (spanning all of the top floor) lies the fabulous master bedroom with its super king size bed and en-suite bathroom. Flooded with natural light, doors open the space out to the private balcony where showstopping, wide angle views form the perfect backdrop to morning coffees and pre-dinner bubbly, and along with its own sofa and television, it creates a sumptuous sanctuary for couples looking to enjoy a lie-in away from the sounds of breakfast chatter downstairs. On the ground floor, a vast open plan living / dining/ cooking area balances practical space with beautiful furnished comfort to create an inviting place for spending time together in, whether whipping up a fabulous meal or chilling out with a glass of wine in front of the fire; and on warmer evenings guests can choose to dine on the balcony while taking in more of those extraordinary sea views.

A key element of large family holiday homes is their entertainment space, and Treheyl's is world-class. Of course, most days will be spent savouring the golden sand and azure waters of the estuary (which is accessed via a private path leading down from the garden), or surfing the swell at nearby Fistral, but for those post-beach afternoons spent at home, there's a suntrap private terrace that offers a completely boutique hotel-esque edge to the property. Set on slate tiles and adorned with sun loungers, a cantilever parasol and lounge suite, this stunning area also features a plunge pool and hot tub, so together with magnificent water views and a lush tropical setting of mature plants and established gardens, it's an other-worldly spot to savour the Cornish sea air as well as the home's spectacular coastal setting.

Pentire Peninsula has long been regarded as a bit of a gem on Cornwall's north coast and being positioned just five minutes drive from Newquay town centre and just two minutes walk from Fistral Beach, it's easy to see why. With the beautiful ruggedness of the Cornish coastline to the north and the Gannel estuary to the south, it offer visitors the best of both worlds, contrasting the verdant, undulating landscape of the river. Private access from the bottom of the property's garden means guests can meander down to the river bank where they can wade in the shallows or paddle a surfboard across the water to Crantock Beach which is just a short walk away.

*The plunge pool is seasonally available between 28th March and the end of September 2026 only

**Please note that there is a heavy wood cover on caster wheels for the pool however families with children will need to take care and not leave them unattended

***Please note that this property has regular garden maintenance and whilst we aim for work to be carried out between bookings, it may be that the gardener attends the property during your stay. Please contact us if you'd like to discuss this before booking

We recently stayed at Treheyl for a 60th birthday and couldn’t have had a better time. The property is lovely and has great views down the river Gannel towards Crantock. The house is well equipped with quality furnishings and there is plenty of space for everyone. We were lucky with the weather but the house is big enough for everyone to have a good time even if you have stay in. Also thank you to Luxury Coastal for helping arrange this property after our original property choice was cancelled at the last minute.

We really enjoyed our stay, there was so much space inside and outside which is perfect for a big group. It didn't matter that the weather was not always kind to us as we could use the hot tub and the cinema room, and cook meals in the very well equipped kitchen. Everyone found the beds very comfortable and there was plenty of hot water. I would recommend this accomodation.

We recently rented Treheyl, Pentire and have to say how incredible this gorgeous property is. We spent hours gazing at the amazing views over the Gannel Estuary and towards Crantock beach. The house is in the perfect position to make the most of a sundowner on the huge balcony for the best sunsets and hot tub experiences.! It was incredible to have access to the riverbed directly from the fabulous, well maintained garden; our dog (Cosmo, the Australian Shepherd) had the best time and was so happy. If the weather had been a little warmer, we would definitely have made use of the kayaks and paddle boards kindly left there. Treheyl is also situated so that it is only a short walk to the famous Fistral Beach where there are plentiful restaurants to try out (e.g. Rick Steins for Fish and Chips, The Stable for Pizzas and The Seaspray Cafe on the steep steps down to Fistral beach is a little gem! All dog friendly). The house is a stones throw from the Pentire Headland - great for views, perfect sunsets and walks - and a great place for Sunday lunch is the Lewinnick Lodge (booking recommended) - superb. We discovered a secret bridge on the Gannel riverbed where you can cross at low tide, then walk (part beach part countryside) to Crantock beach, then up the rocks to a stunning venue for lunch (called C-Bay) - but if you miss the low tide on the way back - the bridge will be covered and you will need to walk an extra 3.5km to get home!!! It was such a joy to return to Treheyl after our action packed days - so comfortable, well equipped, relaxing and had everything we could wish for. During the first weekend we were a family of seven adults and two dogs and we had plenty of room to enjoy the house and all the facilities. (Thanks for leaving the hose in the garden to get the sand off the dogs too). When they left it was just the two of us and our dog - but with the layout of the house we did not feel lost or overwhelmed, and felt quite at home! On the wet windy Sunday evening the Media Room was fabulous for watching a movie with such a large TV screen, comfy sofas and a brilliant sound system. Everyone commented how comfortable the beds were and how powerful the showers were. Oh - and the baths were a luxury; so deep and relaxing! It was great to have plenty of storage cupboards in the kitchen and the utility room with the extra fridge came in handy too. Perfect dining room table (with an idyllic background view) for a large crowd and the breakfast bar in the kitchen was perfect for serving drinks and nibbles and then for just the two of us. We were able to get two large cars and two small cars on the driveway (but there was plenty of street parking too). Honestly, these owners have thought of everything to make an unforgettable holiday experience. Thank you so much, and we would definitely LOVE to return.

I would recommend this place but there are a few pointers I would make for future bookers: The details state that there is a super king size bed in bedrooms 2 & 5 - this is incorrect as they are both normal king size beds. There is no door to the master bedroom, therefore all noise and lighting travels upstairs. During our visit, the weather wasn’t great so we didn’t want to use it, but the plunge pool was too dirty for use. There were no codes provided for the combination locks to the hot tub cover. The gardener turned up unannounced during our stay!!!!!! Not impressed by this and should be completed during the hours the property is vacated prior to the next customers arriving. There is a charcoal BBQ, however it is an inadequate size for large groups. We had an issue with ants and flying ants inside the property. Traps were laid prior to our arrival and we did receive an email to inform us that the house keeper had reported there were a few….. there were literally hundreds and the traps were insufficient. We had to buy further treatment but we still had an ongoing issue with ants in other areas of the property. There are many positives to this place however. Location, view and access to the beach being some of them. The kitchen was well equipped and there is also a washing machine if needed. The advert states that 3 cars will fit on the drive, but we had no issue fitting four. The use of the paddle boards and kayaks was very enjoyable along the Gannel.

Great location, everything that u need is in the house with a luvly hamper, beds are very comfy and the walk down the garden to the estuary then onto Crantock beach is the best! Our second time staying here and we will be back

WOW, was our first impression on walking through the front door and the view we got of the gunnel through the rear windows. The kitchen & utility rooms were impressive with the 3 sets of ovens. My grandson enjoyed the hot tub, nearly everyday after our visits to the surrounding beaches. The living room area was massive and my grandson had enough room to layout his ‘hot wheels’ track end2end without every one having to step over it. The only thing we missed out on was not using the pool and bbq area’s, being as it was a bit wet and windy. I bet a summer holiday in this location would be spectacular. All in all, we had a wonderful family holiday.
