Dream apartment in nice villa near forest

The apartment is spacious and equipped nicely, so that we felt at home right away. The host is easy to access and tried his best to adjust to our request.

We were happy all the way through.

We booked this three bedroom apartment for a total stay of six days at April 28th 2023. When we arrived around 8 at night after an entire day of driving, the owner told us the apartment we had booked wasn’t available. The reason: five people had been staying there since February and she ‘couldn’t make them leave’. Then she offered us a smaller apartment further down the same road. We could stay here if we wanted to. She did not offer us any kind of refund, which would be appropriate since this apartment was way less luxurious than the one we had booked. She then told us there was no 3 room apartment in the first place, the rooms were rented out separated. She said it must be a mistake from Booking.com by describing it this way. As if Booking.com and not the owners provide the description for the apartment. After discussing it for a bit, she reluctantly agreed to give us 150 EUR as a compensation which wasn’t anywhere enough but we were so tired by then we agreed. She also told us we could leave (as if we would do that after hours and hours of driving and wanting to start our first vacation in Switzerland) or if we wanted to stay only for 2 days, that would be fine as well. However, when we settled for the night and thought about the strange circumstances we had found ourselves in (she had known for months the apartment we booked wasn’t available and she didn’t say anything!) we decided we wanted to leave the next day. In this situation we did not believe she would just put the remaining amount of money back into our back account after we had left, so we asked her if she could give us cash. We could meet when it was suitable for her and of course we would pay for the night and we would pay the ridiculously high cleaning fee (100 FR). She said we had to leave that night if we wanted to leave so she could cancel the booking with Booking.com and we would get our money back.
