The location is phenomenal, and having private parking in Cauterets is a huge advantage — especially covered parking. The balcony is a wonderful feature, with incredible views of the surrounding mountains, and we really enjoyed spending time out there. We also very much appreciated being able to stay with our pets. The apartment has a cozy but functional layout. The main bed, which was the only bed we used, is quite small but very comfortable, and we slept well. The kitchen is reasonably well equipped, and we particularly liked the oven and stovetop. The washing machine and excellent internet were also very welcome surprises, as the listing indicated that the apartment had neither. Overall, for a long weekend or shorter stay, the apartment is very well situated, comfortable and has a lot going for it.

What could be improved For a relatively premium-priced eight-night stay — particularly when cleaning and bed linen/towels are additional — we expected a few more basic household supplies. There was only one roll of toilet paper, one kitchen towel (although we eventually found another stored elsewhere), no paper towels and very few cleaning supplies. This was especially surprising given that guests are expected to clean the apartment at the end of their stay. The kitchen equipment could also use a little attention. The knives were extremely dull, the scissors and wine opener were broken, the rubber spatula was separating and should be replaced, and there were strangely no oven mitts or pot holders. A Nespresso machine would also be a very nice addition in place of, or alongside, the existing coffee maker. Most importantly, the apartment would benefit from a thorough deep cleaning. Finally, cushions for the balcony chairs would be a simple addition that would make an already lovely outdoor space much more comfortable.
