While only 45 minutes from Lisbon this very private Pritzker prize-winning villa sits with views of the valley on a massive and private plot, including a courtyard garden as well as three large grass gardens, a large private pool, multiple outdoor seating areas, and olive trees, all in a private gated community with tennis academy, an award winning golf course, a modern clubhouse, and a delicious farm to table style restaurant, and just a quick five-minute ride to the stunning Bom Successo Beach or quaint village of Obidos for additional restaurants, shopping, regional wine, or a glass of ginjinha.
This architecturally significant home has floor-to-ceiling windows in all bedrooms and dining and living room.
Beautiful gardens (there are four! including 2 on the roof -- please note the very small rooftop garden is for admiring only and is not accessible-- large one is accessible) with stunning olive trees, gorgeous skies, and golden hour dusk sunsets.
The home has 4 bedrooms.
Primary bedroom is a suite with separate hallway and queen bed, ensuite bath, built in armoire cabinets for clothing, patio with seating, floor-to-ceiling wall of windows, automated shades, and black-out curtains.
Second bedroom is also a suite with a separate hallway and queen bed, ensuite bath, built in armoire cabinets for clothing, patio with seating, floor-to-ceiling wall of windows, automated shades, and black-out curtains.
Third bedroom is spacious with double bed, with direct access to back garden, sunset views, floor-to-ceiling wall of windows, built in armoire for clothing, automated shades, and black-out curtains.
Fourth bedroom is spacious with two twin beds that can be put together to make a king size bed, built in armoire cabinets for clothing, direct access to garden and pool, sunset views, floor-to-ceiling wall of windows, automated shades, and black-out curtains.
The bedrooms are separated from the rest of the house by a long hallway and interior garden.
Large well equipped galley kitchen looking onto interior courtyard garden. Bosch appliances and espresso machine.
Dining room with seating for 6 (although can add chairs to seat 8) overlooking stunning garden and pool.
Exceptionally large living room. TV with Netflix TV *only. Living room and dining room look out onto back garden with pool.
Back gardens and pool are perfect for outdoor dining and entertaining.
The back gardens while lovely are not fully secured-- like all of the properties in the community, the gardens are "fenced" with shrubbery. While pets are welcome with notice and a pet fee, pets should not be left unattended in the garden and should be left secured inside the villa only.

Very nice house with swimming-pool. We spent a very relaxing time and children enjoyed playing in the swimming-pool. A car is necessary but small nice villages and the beach are near the house.

Unfortunately, our experience was disappointing, especially considering the cost of the stay.
Negative points:
- LIGHTING: In the circulation areas, it is non-existent. Most of the house only has indirect lighting. One of the lights above the dining table was out.
- BATHROOM SAFETY: My 85-year-old father fell in the bathtub due to the lack of a non-slip floor or mat.
- HEATED POOL: It was only warm on the last day. The associated fee was €150, but we paid around €222.
- ENTERTAINMENT: The house only has Netflix. To watch cable TV, we had to connect the TV to the PC.
- GARDENS: They do not match the photos and could not be used. One is abandoned, and the garden on the ground floor had a hole in the vegetation that borders the property, which worried me about my dog escaping to the road. Both this and the upper garden had a mole infestation (I have photos), which also made me worried and uncomfortable.
- COMFORT: The living room sofa is too deep and soft. Good for sleeping, but not for sitting.
- ARCHITECTURE: Strange and not functional. The house feels like a maze. We had to close the doors to some rooms to avoid getting lost.
- ACCESSIBILITY/LOCATION: The access stairs to the house have several steps without a handrail/support. Calm area but far from supermarkets, pharmacies, etc.
Positive points:
- Good pool
- Friendly manager.
My father wanted to stay one more night. He was too tired to drive. But we ended up not extending our stay.
