Ground Floor Centrally Located Apt 22 - Smugglers Inn

The location was good being only a short walk to the town centre. The unit was on the ground floor which saved having to haul luggage upstairs. The bed was comfortable and both the bathroom and kitchen were well appointed.

Getting to and from the unit with luggage was problematic as one had to negotiate the pool gate which could not be propped open due to safety concerns as the front door of the property overlooked the pool. There was very little space inside to store luggage which was not such a big deal for a short stay such as ours but for a longer time it would be annoying. The kitchen cupboards and fridge were chock full of food, drinks and condiments. It would be good if all the non-perishable items could be stored elsewhere to free up a bit of space. The unit is a bit claustrophobic because opening the plantation shutters removes any privacy as all of the windows overlook the pool and the access to the carpark. A suggestion would be to cover the windows with reflective film allowing the shutters to be open, thus providing more light inside.

I really loved the quirkiness of the property and that it has its own history dating back to the 1800’s. The location couldn’t get much better, it was right in the heart of Victor Harbor. Very comfortable bed in the master bedroom and the shower was lovely and hot with pretty good pressure. The kitchen was well equipped and we were very comfortable, my daughter described it as, ‘homely’

It needs a couple of minor fixes but nothing that really bothered us and the host did acknowledge this before the stay. The pool is very cold. There is an adjoining apartment that is quite close so you can occasionally hear your neighbors. It’s quite small, the kids room was a bit difficult to store bags as there isn’t storage space. I’m just nit-picking though, overall we were happy and would stay again.

Location was great. Loved the extras such as takeaway menus and things to do in the area.
