Located on the Southern edge of East Village, The Capitol House is walking distance or quick drive to everything downtown Des Moines has to offer! You can pick up the river path at the end of our block and it’s under a mile to Principle Park, Farmer’s market, East Village shopping and Court Ave food/drinks. Enjoy a view of the Capitol Building from the front yard or cross the street to enjoy the Disc golf course, park and splash pad with your kids or furry family members!
All 3 bedrooms and the full bath are located upstairs. The downstairs is spacious with an open kitchen, dining room and living room. The half bath is on the first-level, just off the entry way.
Guests have private access to the entire house, including the front yard, driveway and back patio/yard.

This house is in a perfect location. Beds are really comfortable, the half bath downstairs really convenient. There is huge park across the street that would be perfect for little kids and the trail along the river is only a few hundred feet from the front door. We sat on the patio every morning for coffee, it would have been nice to have cushions on the furniture but there is plenty of seating. neighborhood is really quiet. This is an old house, take that into consideration. If you are looking for a brand new, modern rental this is not it. However, it fit our needs and we would stay again.

We took a weekend trip from Kansas City to Des Moines. There were seven adults and a toddler. The Capitol House was perfect. It was clean and there was plenty of room for all of us. The host was readily available if we had any questions. The house had all the basic necessities, plus quite a few extra amenities- such as tvs in each room with streaming services, lots of DVDs, children’s toys and a grill. Plus there were plenty of towels and toilet paper. We loved that there was a splash pad and playground literally across the street. It was perfect for my 3 year old grandniece to burn some energy. The house was super close proximity to downtown, but still located in a quiet neighborhood. 10/10 would recommend.

We stayed for a week in June. I had a 10 and 12 year old. The splash pad across the street was refreshing.

We enjoyed the house will definitely come back. We loved all the fun game option for us to play and how you had a good amount of items stocked for us. The backyard was so cute with the little bar would recommend a fire pit wld of made that area. Only issue we had was one of the TV upstairs wasnt working properly so they just watched movies. Will use again for iowa state fair.
