Welcome to The Wood Hatch at Ancarraig Lodges! Our newly redesigned cosy cabin in the woods is named in homage to its creator, The Bearded Woodworker of Ardersier. Nestled within 11 acres of enchanting woodland, our lodges are perfectly situated along the Great Glen Way, offering breathtaking views of the hills above Loch Ness. Just 3 miles from the charming village of Drumnadrochit and 17 miles from the vibrant city of Inverness, our location is ideal for your Highland adventure.
Enjoy the convenience of on-site private parking and bring your furry friends along – pets are welcome too!
This 2-bedroom property with a vintage, rustic feel features an open-plan lounge/kitchen with a cosy log burner. There’s a stunning live-edged dining table, a snuggly sofa area with a Smart TV, and a well-equipped kitchen with a conventional cooker, microwave, coffee beans and grinder for the cafetière, a fridge with a freezer compartment, and a bathroom with an over-bath shower.
Our favourite features in The Wood Hatch are the beautifully designed, solid Douglas Fir “cubes” that serve as seats, coffee tables, and footstools all in one, easily gliding across the floor to suit your needs. You’ll fall in love with the driftwood light feature above your head, giving a warm, cosy glow to those evenings spent enjoying this wee snug.
Outside, you’ll find a private south-facing veranda with additional dining facilities. This lodge sleeps 4 across one double bedroom and one twin bedroom. We doubt you’ll ever see another bedroom to match our twin; are you in a bedroom or an Army Camp? You decide!
Just a heads-up! A cleaning fee of £50 is automatically included in your booking to cover housekeeping and fresh linen, ensuring your stay is as comfortable as possible.
Good news for pet lovers! Dogs are more than welcome to join you on your adventure for just £15 per pet, per stay, up to a maximum of two pets.

We had a fabulous weekend at the cabin. Everything you needed and the fire made it so cosy!
Some of the kitchen utensils and crockery were dirty.
It is confusing having the cabin named but it is labelled as a number.

The lodge was just as described and photographed. It had everything we needed for 3 nights. Would not hesitate to return or recommend to others.

We stayed in the Wood Hatch and it was a lovely 3 nights. Amid the wettest weather we'd seen in quite a while, this was a cosy oasis to hide away. It proved the perfect base and we'll definitely come back. You're only 5 mins from Drumnadrochit and from there you're only 30 mins from Inverness, Fort Augustus and all of the cruises, walks and adventure you need. Key provided in a key store, easy access, great WiFi and the lodge is super well equipped. The log burner heats the place up superbly and you have all the wood you need in a store on-site. I can't recommend it highly enough.
