Ira Homestay Mathura - Divine Spiritual Stay

Ansolutely perfect abode to explore Mathura and Vrindavan. Clean, spacious room, with very comfortable bed. Possibility of ordering breakfast and other snacks, all deliciously home cooked. The host is incredibly nice and very responsive, do listen to his suggestions!

We visited Mathura for the Holi festival and it really didn't disappoint. Gurav and his family were exceptional hosts allowing us to share the celebrations with their local community. This included lighting the fires and burning wheat before exchanging good luck with family, friends and neighbours the evening before and playing with colours (In particular with the local children) and dancing with all the following morning. Gurav, who is extremely spiritual, took us in his car to the old town to visit temples where we received blessings and were made to feel very welcome.

Gaurav is probably the best host you could come across. He will go more than the extra mile to do what he can for his guests. He helped when my husband needed medical attention by coming to the hospital and took us to the railway station when we left. 10/10 for him Good sized room ( though poorly equipped) 100 rupee rickshaw ride from the Ghats

Unfortunately, I'm reviewing Guarav's property, not him, and I'll start by saying that it is a work in progress. He has plans for improvements, but at the moment it does not reach an acceptable standard. There was a lack of cleaning, mosquitoes drove us mad during the night. Doors and windows don't fit well, so they can enter the room easily, and did! The room is advertised as having a balcony, but it is completely unusable, although there IS a communal outdoor space. There is nowhere to keep clothes, no desk/table, no chairs. I found 2000 rupee per night to be far too much, even though AC was included. When Guarav has implemented the changes, it will be worth that cost.
