About this house rental

Cuckoostone Barn is a welcoming home in the Peak District National Park. The area is surrounded by nature and the perfect location to sit and watch the wildlife go by, whilst being mesmerised by the uninterrupted views of rolling countryside. It's an excellent base to explore, with amazing walks and cycle routes from the doorstep, or a place to simply relax and unwind in an idyllic part of the world.

Cuckoostone Barn is a much loved luxury converted barn dating back to the 1800's. It has been restored to a very high standard and now proudly sits adjacent to Cuckoostone House, which is our family home.

It's extremely spacious with open plan ground floor living accommodation, impressive original beams, feature stone walls and a gallery landing. The Scandinavian style wood-burning stove is a focal point throughout the ground floor and a place to sit and watch the flames dance after a day in the Peak. Logs are supplied for the duration of your stay.

The barn has a fully equipped kitchen with an impressive range oven, dishwasher and washer/dryer. Free wifi in all rooms, Satellite TV and a selection of books and board games are available.

The views are amazing, and we're surrounded by an abundance of nature. You'll frequently wake to the call of the Cuckoo after a peaceful nights sleep under a blanket of stars, in the luxurious bedroom with king sized bed. Towels and super soft bathrobes are supplied, plus a range of luxury toiletries including rose petal bath salts.

Enjoy the south facing outdoor patio areas, set in the mature gardens with wonderful blooms during spring and summer months. BBQ facilities available. Bike storage also available.

The property is set in the rural area of Reapsmoor, which is 2.8 miles from the historic market town of Longnor and 4 miles from Hartington. Longnor has a characterful village feel with a pub, fish & chip shop, post office, general store and coffee shop. It is nestled between the Dove and Manifold valleys, making it an ideal base for walking and exploring the surrounding countryside. The nearest pub is just a 5 minute drive or 35 minute walk, in the village of Warslow - it's an easy walk and the views are wonderful.

Cuckoostone Barn and surroundings are simply stunning and a must for everyone to experience, and we look forward to welcoming you to the area.

We stayed at Cuckoostone for 4 nights and only wish it could’ve been longer. I normally try to give constructive feedback but we honestly couldn’t think of a single that could be improved! We’ve stayed in several rental properties & this was easily the best we’ve been to. Cleanliness: we immediately noticed a lovely clean smell when we entered the barn; it had obviously been cleaned to a very high standard. Accommodation: the barn was perfect! Aesthetically it was stunning but it was also practical & somehow has everything you could need! For me it’s simple things that make this type of accommodation stand out - a decent hairdryer, full length mirror, well located plugs etc. The welcome pack was so thoughtful & meant that we had some basics for our stay without needing to rush to a shop. Location: the surrounding fields and the view are stunning. I loved waking up, looking out the window and seeing the sheep in the field across the road! You can walk approx 30 mins to the nearest pub and other small villages are within a few minutes drive. Leek isn’t far away and is handy for supermarkets and takeaways etc. The barn is a great base for getting out and about across the Peak District. Communication: the communication beforehand was great. The guidebook we were sent in advance was amazing. It was so helpful and meant we could start planning before we arrived. We followed some of the recommendations too! We bumped into Sarah and it was lovely to meet her.Highly recommend!
