The location is very convenient to the area. It’s just off the main streets with shopping etc. and close to the road that leads down the beach and the port.
We had confusion at the location where we were supposed to get the keys (there were 2 sets of keys and we didn’t know the name that had been given & the photo sent by the host was of a different keychain). Then we were worried we had the wrong key and had issues opening the door. The neighbor noticed and she mimed to us the trick to pull the door while turning the key.
There is a button to exit the building courtyard, and the neighbor showed us this too otherwise we would have been stuck, this also isn’t explained by the host. It must be very obvious if you’re local.
Once inside, there was no guest book. Every other guesthouse that we have stayed in has had some local recommendations, info about the appliances, transportation(taxi, bus), garbage instructions, etc. so you’re left to guess unless you’re already familiar.
(And as other reviewers noted, the wifi is weak so be sure to have everything loaded in advance)
In the fridge, there was a 1/2 consumed water & 1/2 consumed wine.
We needed to do our laundry and there wasn’t any detergent. We wrote to the host and were told that it’s not provided and were given directions to a local store after I asked. The store was already closed. There is no drying rack (only a laundry line out the window so if it’s humid, good luck drying).
We also asked about beach towels and they are not provided so definitely bring your own.
The mattress is very hard, also noted by other reviewers, I should have taken that more seriously.
In the end, we left a day early because we were not comfortable. It was just small things but they made us feel unwelcome. I made my suggestions to the host to add a page of local information, a drying rack, a mattress pad, and a note on the listing that consumables are not provided. He was not receptive to them, which again makes me think this place is probably great for someone local who knows what to expect. For us it was sad because everywhere else we’ve had lovely hosts in Italy,
