Host & Stay - Laylands Yard

Great accommodation in a great location - an 8 minute walk into Wells waterfront. 5 adults stayed...but would accommodate 6 comfortably. Great kitchen.. very well equipped. Very comfy beds. A good sized bathroom upstairs and a bonus shower room downstairs. Living room spacious with an extra dining room. A lovely rear outside space. Great communication from host Highly recommended. We would definitely stay again!

Bath towels could have been bigger...a little on the small size. Perhaps more than one bathroom hand towel. 4 toilet rolls not enough for 5 adults for 3 days.

Location brilliant nice garden and great bbq!

Our sink in the bathroom wasn’t working and was supposed to be mended but it wasn’t! We used the downstairs wc’s sink but with six of us it was a bit inconvenient !

There was a problem obtaining the key code. It was transmitted around 12.30 pm when we were travelling, but it would have avoided anxiety to have transmitted it the day before. Otherwise it's a potential worry about arriving there to find that the system has malfunctioned. We telephoned the property agency and also Booking.com during the journey, but both phone calls were unhelpful. Eventually the property agency person told us the code, but seemed to suggest that it was against the rules. However, it's not easy to communicate by phone whilst travelling in a car. On arrival, there was no milk, tea or coffee, which we have appreciated at other places. The open plan bedrooms are problematic with children running about.

The property, being on the edge of town, is nice and peaceful. The bedrooms were all of a good size and downstairs the kitchen was adequate with a lot of storage. Only a small refrigerator but there is a larger one in the outbuilding. The dishwasher was very small but plenty of tablets were provided so we could do two washes daily. The lounge is spacious, we did find that the dining room out in the extension was a bit of a squeeze for six of us. The garden was a pleasant area to sit in with various areas to enjoy. The decor of the house was tasteful, with plenty of interesting pictures on the walls.

On arrival we found that the light fitting had been removed in the upstairs bathroom, rendering it unusable in the evening. This was rectified the next day however. The TV we found rather difficult to use, and the DVD player didn't work at all. No hand towels were provided, and the windows did seem a little tired. The shower in the upstairs bathroom made a squealing noise when on lower settings.
