About this house rental
Visiting Caprock Canyons State Park, Quitaque, Turkey, or friends/family in the area? Looking for a place to stay after a long day of hiking, biking, hunting, horseback riding, or exploring, without having to drive 1+ hours to the nearest accommodation?
Come stay in the Tonkawa, located just minutes from Caprock Canyons. This vacation rental is part of a historic homestead built in 1925, updated in the 90's, but still retaining the historic charm and decor from almost 100 years ago.
It is a three-bedroom, two-bath vacation rental.
Relax in the spacious living room with fold-out sofa, loveseat, and gas fireplace. Enjoy your favorite shows and movies on the big-screen Roku TV with Hulu.
Spend time cooking in a fully-equipped kitchen with a seating island, or grill your favorite foods on the outdoor gas grill (propane is provided).
Wake up with complimentary coffee/tea at the coffee bar in the kitchen. Light snacks are provided as well.
Linens and towels are included.
Located on ten acres, two miles from the state park and one mile from the quaint town of Quitaque, guests are free to sit out on the front porch, walk the property, play games (badminton, tetherball, washers, tic-tac-toe), and enjoy the peace, quiet, and views of the surrounding areas.
Some outdoor spaces are shared, such as the games, waterfall, and picnic tables, with guests of the camper rental and RV sites.

We had such a relaxing and peaceful visit here! We were visiting the area for my nephew’s graduation from Texas Tech, and the drive into Lubbock is easy and pretty - so nice to visit with family there but also have a few days of quiet family time in Quitaque. Caprock Canyons is less than 4 minutes drive from the house and a highlight of our trip. The home itself is spacious, charming, and welcoming, with historic character, comfortable beds and bedding, plenty of hot water and good towels, and a great kitchen set-up with dishes and utensils for a large family. The outdoor space is inviting with covered porches, outdoor games, a secret hideout tree our kids adored, and gorgeous sunrises, sunsets, and starry nights. Communication with our host was friendly and efficient. Thanks for a great stay!

We love the old style craftsman. Right when we got there, a roadrunner ran across the driveway. We loved sitting on the porch and watching the goats and hearing all the birds it was so close to the park which was perfect for us to hike every day it was just my husband and I, but it’d be plenty big enough for six adults and a kid or two.

Great place, quiet, clean and handy to Caprock Canyon. Very nice people. Room to roam. Enjoyed music and food at Hotel Turkey, about 15 minutes away.
