Guest House Gugily

Kitchen and bedrooms had everything we needed. Doors opening and closing were a little loud when other guests were coming and going. On day 2, there was no power but the host came quickly to rectify this. The following day, we noticed that the toilet paper was almost out (7 people staying that evening). We notified the host but received no response. The next morning there was no toilet paper at all the the kitchen garbage can was overflowing. We suggest that the cleaning person come more frequently to meet the guests needs. On a positive note, this is a very well located place with all the amenities you need nearby.

This is a nicely decorated apartment located a few minutes walk from Pile Gate, which is amazingly convenient. The apartment has most things I needed, including a teapot and kettle, and a washing machine for laundry. There are four rooms sharing one common kitchen space (with one sink and two electric hobs plus microwave). I was there alone when a family of four arrived to stay in another room. The two other rooms, which could have accommodated at least another four people were empty. It was crowded, so I stayed mostly in my room. One shower for up to eight adults might be tricky in the summer, but it was not a problem in cool mid-April. The bus from the bus depot/ferry terminal is very close. There were no smoke alarms as far as I could tell. The wifi was pretty good but went off from time to time. Some of the electric outlets need repairing. The shutters do not close so if you are light sensitive, you will need eye shades. If you want to do grocery shopping you will need to plan carefully as there is nothing significant and affordable in the area.

This is a lovely little guest house right next to the old town. It's literally a few steps away. As such, the room I had had a great view over the sea, the castle and the city walls, while being sound proof so that the traffic and sound of the tourists couldn't be noticed. The room was comfortable, with a good bed, enough power outlets and it was clean. Shared facilities (kitchen, bathroom and separate toilet) were sufficient for the three rooms and definitely clean as well. I'm pretty sure the owner loves purple and loved to put a feminine touch on the interior design. Unfortunately, I never got to meet the host. I just found an unlocked door and a note to my room, and two other guests, but I haven't seen anyone during the days (probably because I was out exploring Dubrovnik). Perhaps we meet a next time, because if I have a chance to get back to this city, I'll definitely look for availability here.
