Domaine Joseph LAFARGE Wine Resort Oeno-tonneaux expérience

The quirky wine-barrel cabins are set in a vineyard / farmland near a forest. It is very calm and peaceful and there was a table and chairs outside to enjoy the ambience. The barrel cabin was divided into two sections. At the front was a kitchen / dining area with cooking facilities, multiple fridges and a table. The rear had a double bed and two bunk beds separated by curtains. There are charging points near the beds and in the front area. It had air conditioning which, during the heatwave, was very welcome. The shared bathroom was in the main house but close by and easy to access. Multiple showers and toilets and all very clean. It was possible to purchase wine at the reception. We ate breakfast in the outdoor area (with a choice of either side of the building so you can choose the most pleasant side). The included breakfast by host was really nice with home made yoghurt, cheeses, fruit, cereals, breads, spreads, juices, coffee and tea. The friendly cats were an extra bonus.

The only problem was that we chose this stop last minute because we were coming from Cluny and heading to Pont du Gard and needed a place to stop for three people. Therefore, we unfortunately didn't have the opportunity to take advantage of everything on offer such as the wine / dinner tour you can pre-book ahead of time. There were no restaurants nearby so we picked up food from a food truck in Lugny else you could pick up cooking supplies at the nearby Carrefours. If you are more prepared than us then there would be no problems! For us, it still gave us everything we needed for a one-night stay.
