    Very tight security from the front entry all the way, feels like airport security which provide a very safe feel when u stay there. Lovely breakfast 6 stars with fresh live stations for dosa & Appom. Masala tea available too. Love the room service too. Hotel gave us 2 cakes for my son’s birthday & our wedding anniversary. Hotel is directly connected to the mall sigh good variety.

    We booked Shangri-La Colombo expecting a luxury experience, but unfortunately our stay did not meet the standards we associate with a five-star hotel. Our first disappointment was the arrival experience. There was no valet service available, and we had to park the car ourselves and make our way up two floors to reach the reception area. When guests choose a luxury hotel, they expect convenience and a seamless arrival process. Having to navigate parking and access the lobby on our own felt inconvenient and took away from the premium experience. The second issue was the service. We found the staff to be distant and not particularly welcoming. During breakfast, we requested coffee and had to wait an unusually long time despite arriving at 7:00 AM when the restaurant was quiet and staff were readily available. Throughout our stay, there was very little warmth, proactive service, or even basic hospitality such as greeting guests with a smile. As Indian travellers, we also felt that we were not treated with the same level of attentiveness that appeared to be extended to some other guests. While we cannot know the reason, the overall experience left us feeling overlooked and unwelcome. What made this even more noticeable was that we had arrived directly from a stay at Marriott Weligama, where the service was exceptional, the staff were genuinely friendly, and we felt valued as guests throughout our stay. Shangri-La Colombo is undoubtedly a beautiful property, but luxury hospitality is about more than the building itself. It is about making guests feel welcome, comfortable, and cared for. Unfortunately, that was not our experience, and we left feeling disappointed.

    Located very close to the Dutch precinct (entertainment district) and right on the Galle face, it is connected to the one galle face mall (you don’t need to step out). The rooms are excellent with fantastic views of the Indian Ocean and the port city. The view from the executive lounge (horizon lounge) on the 32nd floor is breathtaking. The buffet breakfast is possibly the best in Colombo.

    Pretty bad experience for a five stars hotel. I found someone’s hair in my bed, and someone’s nail on the floor. The cleaner had never cleaned the nail until we left(three nights) I think these are bad enough!!! We organised a car to go to the airport, we’ve never gotten the right one. Horrible experiences!
