The room we stayed in was nice. It was very dusty in Pingyao. I asked for clean towels on the second day of our stay because they were dirty. It was an awkward conversation, clearly they did not want to provide clean towels. In the end they didn’t and we were left to use dusty dirty towels.

We were looking for a traditional Chinese courtyard guesthouse so we booked this place. It was perfect for us. Great location in the centre of the old town and friendly, English speaking staff. You could walk to all the main sights.
Room was very pretty and traditional. Had a brand new wet-room shower which was a bonus. Traditional bed was firm but comfortable. Toiletries provided.
All in all a great stay and value. A lovely base for our time in Pingyao.

I think we were updated into a better room for free (the owner told me during a moment when I was rushing to catch my train so I didn't really have time to think about what he said). The room was beautiful and clean with the biggest bed I've ever seen. I think six people would fit without a bigger problem. Everyone was really nice and helpful (not everyone spoke English though but we didn't have any problem with that). The location is right in the middle of the city.
