I had 3 nights in Che Lagarto. First of all, glad I was travelling with a backpack rather than a wheeled suitcase - there's no road or path to the hostel, so bear in mind you have to walk on the beach to it.
The check in process is a bit of a phaff, using technology for the sake of it but making it slower than anywhere else to check in rather than faster. (You have to scan a QR code on their computer screen using your phone, enter details yourself, take photos).
Dorms are fine, nice big lockers under the bunks to fit bags. Not enough headspace to sit up on the top bunks, but fine for sleeping. Take ear plugs though. My dorm was directly above the bar and the music felt like it was in the room, very loud to 1am. Nice bar though, do you may want to hang out there anyway.
Breakfast (if you go for that option) was excellent - great selection of fruits, cereals, breads, hot food, savoury, cakes etc. Unusually for a hostel there's no kitchen, not even a kettle or a microwave you can use, just 1 fridge in the corridor.
If I was to go to Ilha Grande again (the island is beautiful!) personally I'd try and find somewhere quieter to stay next time, but if you're not wanting to sleep until after 1am anyway and don't want kitchen facilities, Che Lagarto is fine.
