La Barrière de Transinne

Really nice hotel. Stayed for only one night but had food and drink in the restaurant. Order burgers but steaks came out, staff were very helpful to rectify the order. The desert ordered however took an age to come out. Minor issue with the plug in the sink being broken and the temperature was warm and the room lacked Air con so it was a warm night. All in all though it was a positive and I would stay again.

Easy to access from motorway. Good for overnight stop on long journey. The staff are welcoming, and speak good English. The restaurant is a destination for local people.

The staff were all welcoming, spoke good English, and were able to anticipate our needs. Our standard room was spacious and clean, with the all the necessary facilities. There were, however, only the Belgian TV channels. Dinner in the restaurant was excellent - it was difficult to choose from the small menu! Breakfast was also good, more than enough for us. Check out was quick and easy. We would go back.

The hotel is located at a roundabout in the middle of nowhere. The location was mostly beneficial to us, as we wanted to visit different places that were all within a reasonable driving distance. (Luxemburg, Dinant, Rochefort, Bastogne, Namur.) The service was good and the rooms were nice. The breakfast was remarkably good, among the best i can recall in terms of quality, though the selection was somewhat limited. The lady arranging the breakfast was particularly nice. Dinner at the restaurant was also fantastic. The restaurant requires reservations for dinner, but they still accommodated us the first night when we were unprepared. This place almost felt like a hidden gem, particularly at this price, though that is likely due to location. Even so there were a few things that bothered us a bit: the rooms are not well ventilated and the heat in the summer was unpleasant, though we did get a fan to mitigate this. Three out of four mornings we were woken up by noise outside in the mornings (we had the windows wide open). One morning it was the music at the patio 0730, the next it was hedge trimming at 0830, then it was the truck delivering supplies at 0630. All of this by the hotels services, there was also a garbage truck and some road noise (the speed limit outside is 70kph), but that is more or less as expected. Shutting the windows mostly cut off the noise enough to go back to sleep for a while longer.
