We have enjoyed so much in this place, it's beautiful and hotel design with so much details. staffs are very friendly. We enjoyed our stay in here. Foods are excellent. Healthy choice and delicious.

Stayed with elderly parents and young children. Everything was wonderful. Staff was very helpful and made us feel like home.

Though this is the first time my wife and I visited since the renovation, we remember the days when it used to be Wen Wan Resort before the rona. In fact, part of the reason I made the reservation this time was to see how things changed since then. Back in the days, we traveled with my in-laws, and we found that the rooms were not very elderly-friendly. This time, my parents were visiting us, so I decided to give this renovated venue a try again. Wow! Have they done an amazing job of renovating this venue! Externally, nothing changed, but internally, absolutely everything changed. They put so much thought into the whole experience, and the changes are tangible. The lobby moved from first floor to B1, where you drive in, and the hospitality crew take over right from the beginning. We checked in around five, so we missed the afternoon tea. If you plan to go, get there early. The afternoon tea venue and menu look awesome. The placement of the rooms haven't changed, but the interior design has been completely changed. It seemed familiar, but also very new. Interesting mixed feeling (if you know what it used to be like). The floor is no longer slippery even in the bathroom. Everything electrical has been changed. I was quite surprised by the fact that they placed a Devialet Mania portable speaker in each room. Are the rooms that soundproof? I didn't have the guts to test it out, but the room was very quiet in general. I remember back in the days, I could hear everything happening outside (even from the lobby) through the door. This time, I didn't hear anything other than when my parents opened or closed their door next door. The bedding is very comfortable, and everything still looks very new. They re-did the bathroom in a very sleek and stylish gray-tone, and once again, not slippery. If you plan to bring your elderly parents or in-laws, Grand Hilai is probably your best bet in all of Sun Moon Lake right now. My parents loved it. My mom went up to the sauna up on the eleventh floor, and she absolutely enjoyed that. (I think this venue is her #1 in Taiwan now) I didn't think my parents would eat dinner, so I didn't buy the dinner package, but if you know for sure that the members of your traveling party will be eating dinner, make sure to buy the dinner package, because their restaurant has been completely re-done and the menu looks awesome. Dinner package price is about 50% off the dinner, compared to on-site walk-in. It's a total steal. My wife tends to get hungry at weird hours, and for people like my wife, Grand Hilai has a "night snack" at first floor from 9 PM to 10:30 PM. Their menu is a cleaner version of Taiwanese street food and it's a limited selection, but they change the menu four times a year. My parents don't like to eat street food, but they ate. (That says a lot about the food) Breakfast was awesome too. I know I keep talking about food, but really, if you don't talk about food in Taiwan, you're not in Taiwan. My best hotel breakfast experience in Taiwan had been Shangri-la, Tainan, but the breakfast at Grand Hilai did an outstanding impression. I definitely want to treat my in-laws to stay at Grand Hilai sometime in the near future, and if my parents were to visit us again, I'm sure they would want to stay at Grand Hilai again.
