We liked the Milky Bay resort. Our room, Protea 2, was eclectic. The one complaint we had about the room is that the couch was filthy and needed to be cleaned. The restaurant had a good menu. The food was good. Breakfast was very good. The restaurant staff was exceptional. Always greeted you as you approached the restaurant. Were very service oriented and tremendously friendly! We would return simply for the dining experience. The beach was not good. When the tide went out it revealed bottles and trash in the sand, lots of it. In my mind's eye they need to send someone out at low tide every day and clean the beach. The desk staff was very good. Helpful and very pleasant. While the review is somewhat mixed, we would recommend the Milky Bay for it's service, the restaurant and the room.

Milky Bay continues to be one of our favourite places to stay on the island. The rooms are spacious and immaculate, with everything you could need—mini bar, TV, stereo, hairdryer, and a waterfall shower in the ensuite wetroom. The beds are big and comfy, and the food is beyond exceptional (served all day!). The location is perfect too, close to shops, the pier, and bars. But what really makes Milky Bay stand out is the staff—they’re friendly, attentive, and always go the extra mile. Nothing is too much trouble for them, and their laughter and smiles make every stay feel extra special. The owners continue to make upgrades around the resort. Some work well, like the newly remodeled pool. It’s nicely done, though now only about 1 metre deep, which is odd. Half of the pool is shaded, which is a blessing on hot days, but weekends can get noisy and busy with young families visiting from around the island, and sun loungers can run short. There’s plenty of space to add another pool, so hopefully that’s on the agenda. The upgraded sound system by the pool can be a bit loud and eclectic—one day we heard a mix of rap, techno, country, and power ballads in just an hour—but it usually settles down, so it’s rarely a problem. Some changes feel a little more hit-and-miss. The resort now feels overly sanitised, and much of the original Thai charm has been lost. What was once a quiet oasis among a bamboo forest is now somewhat dominated by white buildings and brick walkways, with fewer trees and quaint huts. Activities like volleyball, ping pong, and pool among the greenery have been replaced by extra rooms, nudging guests to spend evenings (and money) outside the resort. The restaurant area is upgraded nicely, though the air-conditioned wine room feels a touch indulgent. A relaxing bar where you could unwind after dinner has disappeared, and - most importantly - the large plastic flaps which have to be manually deployed to protect the dining area during storms are cumbersome, heavy, impractical, and a massive safety concern for both staff and guests—these could really use a rethink. Despite these small observations, Milky Bay remains a beautiful resort that delivers an unforgettable stay. The combination of comfy rooms, delicious food, prime location, and genuinely wonderful staff keeps us coming back. We’d highly recommend it to anyone visiting the island!

We are lucky to upgraded near beach but it is not a beach you could go swim. Very muddy and low tide. However restaurant has a decent food and swimming pool was clean and tidy. Room was huge with very nice bathtub. Some other hotel room was very humid and soggy beding but this room has been very pleasant. Just shame for no beach to swim.
